I got a 1993 ranger, 4.0L, 5 spd, 4x4.
i picked up a complete 4.0L from the local ford dealership for free. Its out of a '97 exploder.
its got 95tm heads on it, which are the fast-burn heads. or whatever you call em. which had the deep dish pistons also.
my ranger has the earlier heads and small dish pistons i believe.
now from my research, i have gathered that my rangers computer isnt calibrated right to run the fastburn heads.
i grabbed this engine in hopes of rebuilding it to put in my truck once its original 4.0L was in need of an overhaul.
in the process of rebuilding this '97 4.0L, could i put original style heads and pistons in it? so i could run it with my stock computer? or is there more too it than that?
knowing ford, i bet the oil wont even interchange.
