Engine’s happier when I abuse it

Have you ever considered just letting us take turns abusing it? I mean... it seems to like it...
Might just fix itself after a month of demo derby driving.

… throttle body? I cleaned it 6 mo ago. Doesn’t seem like it really does anything. TPS and IAC are new

Increasing the radio volume usually fixes engine noises.

I read somewhere in the past that sucking water in a vac hose can help clean the cylinder. The cold shock loosens up the crud… which makes sense. Well it didn’t work. It might have gotten worse, but it’s really humid and wet this morning too. Here’s a vid of my tail pipe after water boarding it. It wasn’t a lot of water. Maybe two gulps worth.

I truly appreciate the suggestions, but I was hoping to… you know… fix it.

Just recalled. When I was doing the timing belt, I unbolted the crank sensor. Don’t really remember how it’s set up down there, but I went to turn the crank, and the sensor got caught in a pinch point. One of the mount holes on the sensor broke and a corner of the cutout on the wheel that goes with the sensor bent a little. I bent it back and the crank sensor seemed fine. Did I do a bad?

New crank sensor installed. Engine definitely runs better. I still get a rich code though. I’ve completely exhausted my ideas now

Are your injectors clean? O2 sensors good? maybe swap em around and see if it helps. MAF, Throttle body, fuel system all good? Either a sensor isnt doing its job, or something is causing a rich condition beyond the sensors parameters.

Crank sensor was literally the last electrical component (to include ECU). My next step is to get a reader so I can see real-time data stream… and do a compression test. I read low comp can make it look rich.

Can’t seem to find anything on EECIV readers. I find things that can get codes, but nothing beyond that. Could it be my TPS. I just learned that they can be calibrated. Kind of a rudimentary calibration with the butterfly adjuster.

a specific oddity I have is when I’m coasting. Sometimes when I let off throttle, in gear, I get a lurch from the drivetrain slack reversing, but also another lurch from the engine doing something weird. Like the IAC does something weird… or a misfire.
