EGR solenoid 99 ranger

I just bought a 99 ranger and there was a check engine light. It was for the EGR solenoid so i looked at the solenoid and the connector was cut off of it so i proceeded and bought the connector. And the wires that were cut off of the harness were blue/orange and brown/pink. And now im not sure what wire goes to left or right side of connector? Any thoughts?

Have you looked at the wiring diagrams posted in this section? I would think that FoMoCo likely kept things the same year over year unless the system had to be changed. If your colors match the 97 diagram, I'd go with that.

I'll take a look at my truck late this afternoon.

1999 Ranger 2.3l/2.5l wiring diagram shows Brown/pink stripe as the control wire for EGR vacuum regulator.
There should be a Red wire with 12volts when key is on, on the other terminal.

This vacuum switch gets 12volts when key is on but has no Ground so stays closed, the Brown/pink wire is a Computer controlled ground.
This is the same for most computer controlled systems in a vehicle, fuel injectors all get 12v when key is on, computer grounds then to open, fuel pump relay gets 12v when key is on computer grounds relay to turn on fuel pump, ect.....

I see:
Light Blue/orange for fuel pump relay and heated O2 sensor
Dark blue/orange for Cam sensor

So not sure what that other wire is for, check to see if it has 12v with key on and 0v with key off
