EGR pressure sensor

OOOH! OOH!... forgot to tell you... I think the RKIs/super-mods will back me up on this:

Now that you have the new sensor in, you need to disconnect your neg battery terminal for 5-10 minutes, then re-connect, so your PCM "learns/calibrates" values from the new DPFE, and "maps" it in with the other sensors... *then* you'll notice the diff... not right away, but after a few miles of driving... made a HUGE difference on my install... went from rough-running POShyt to Swiss watch.

When you disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery, if you touch it to the positive battery terminal for a sec. or two, this will discharge the filter capacitors in the PCM for the unswitched 12V, resetting the PCM.
You can also disconnect the negative battery terminal with the headlights on, and this will do the same thing. This eliminates the long wait for the capacitors to discharge by providing a discharge current path.

Gas mileage still not doing very good so far. By my rough calculations it's about 13 or so and I drive like an old lady. Hopefully it gets better.

I've had an EGR flow error for months. Changed both the sensor and valve. Still a has a light on. I even had someone clear it with a computer and tried the batter disconnect. Anything else worth trying?

Maybe I'll stick some electrical tape over the check engine light. That seems to fix it every time.

Street, that's ABYSMAL mileage... AUTO tranny? Day-um, when gas was cheaper I'd step into it all over stop-and-go land and not see below 18... that's with a stick... OTOH, I'm lugging the 4WD machinery around too... yours?

Anyway, I'd check for fuel leaks, including leaky injector. Find your Schrader valve on the fuel rail, and after truck's been sitting 8+ hours, use a rag and give it a push, see if you get a strong spurt, proving that it's holding pressure.

Dragon, at your stage I'd suspect EGR diaphragm itself is not being moved, either simple leak in vacuum hose connecting it, or faulty vacuum servo that does the controlled sucking. Don't know the diagnostic procedures off the top of my head... lame Chilton's manual not handy.

Fixzin. In an earlier post you had asked what the code was a P040 or P0402...

I have a P040 code, Insuffencent exhaust Flow detected. What does that mean? What do I get to change? and where is it at. I've read this thread and Im still wondering what the problem may be. So any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Guess what, I found another thread titled P0401 wont go away. I'll be checkin that as well thanks.
