truck dies while driving. cranks but wont start.
after missing blown fuse first time.put on new coil pack, plugs, wires,
fuel filter. My nephew found 30. eec fuse blown . replaced it , started up and ran for 3-4 sec. and died, fuse blown.in my redneck wisdom i put in a 40 and it started up ran for 6-8 sec. fuse blown. so what is making fuse pop and where do i start.

A short in the wire probably, check the wires running to the fuse and to the computer

Make sure there's no frayed wires grounding out and check the grounds on the truck too

yes it is....i can actually hear the short if i just touch the fuse to the connector....its behind engine above tranny..still removing stuff from engine to get to it .

Disconnect the connector to the transmission that controls the converter lock up

long story short it was in tranny like squatch said. Thank you sir!!
since i had it apart looking for the short i heard {ya right}:icon_rofl:
i put on valve cover and upper manifold gasket. plugs, wires, coil pack.
anyhow got conecctor unhooked to tranny and it drove just fine, but of course no OD.
so now gotta find how to and whats all involved in that.. thanks all..

I had this problem with my 91 a while back. Turned out when I changed the transmission filter a long time ago I got the overdrive solenoid wire pinched between the pan and the trans case when I put it back together. It finally rubbed through the gasket and the the wire shorted to the trans case.
