Ebay diesel Ranger

nice clean diesel ranger.
my '83' 2.2 mazda/perkins ranger is up to 130,000 miles now.
i've made the valve cover mod, to prevent excesive blowby pressure.
the most common problems with these engines are:
1-starter drives
2-excesive blowby pressure
3-throttle shaft o-ring wear. (every 120,000 miles it needs to be replaced, to stop a fuel leak).
4-weak 4-speed transmission, (a early 5 speed rx-7 or 2.2 diesel mazda pickup trans will fit).
5-ford quit building them.
pm me if you have questions/comments.
using a two tank veg oil blend and diesel fuel system.

I have an 1983 ranger xlt with the factory diesel option, It has about every option you could get, My dad knew the guy who ordered it in 83, it was the start of my love for rangers, I love it but may sell it because I have several ranger projects and a bronco II in the garage right now.

My Grandpa had an 83 Diesel Ranger. that was one running son of a gun. started up great even in the northern Wisconsin winters. He had close to 200k on it when he sold it, and the reason he sold it was because the wisconsin winters had rusted out the fuel tank and a few other parts that were hard to get for it.

Didn't they have like 64hp?
With a bunch of work you could probably get some decent power out of it.
But its just a little peterbilt.
I saw the best diesel ranger on youtube!

Put up with that old mechanical, non-pilot injected thing every day...day in day out. In the morning it beats your brains out when you start it and it's running advanced while it warms up. You walk out with your cup of coffee and dread it. The body of the truck is rattling everywhere. Everything you mount in it eventually shakes loose. The pipes rattle, the motor rattles, your head rattles. Without a turbo it's unbearable--all that racket and no satisfaction.

i thought at least one of the ranger diesels was a turbo.

Turbo Diesel Resurected

Just bought a 1986 Turbo Diesel ranger. It has been sitting for 10 years! I took the timing cover off to make sure the belt was up to par before i started it. I then put a ratchet on the cranch and gave her a twist and with a little effort she broke loose. Then we hooked a chain to her and pulled her about 100 ft and VROOOOOMMMM and it even ran on the 10 year old diesel that was in it from 1998!! I bet that diesel only cost about 89cents a gallon. I have a transfer case for it so i am looking for a front end and a drive shaft to make her 4x4. The guy said it got 35/gallon when he drove it. So 4X4 won't hurt the mileage to awful much. I forgot to show the video of the truck! Here it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNEueB1Zfsg
