Anyone know where to find a good conversion kit? I managed to damage the fan on my new engine while moving it, and figured that if I need a fan I may as well at least consider it. Just doing some price comparison right now.

Wasn't it e-fans off of fwd chevy v6's that fit good?

I dunno about chevy vans. I do know that the 3.0 Taurus fans are good, I just don't feel like pulling all the wiring at the JY.

I got mine from a late 90s stang. Little trimming of the plastic and those fan zip ties it fit perfect, covers the entire radiator. Flows as much as the stock mech fan. Used a thermostat kit from auto zone, and a starter relay to handle the juice.

I used the Painless wiring kit from Summit. It wasn't really cheap but works good... or at least kicks the fan on and off. I haven't driven it much since (no exhaust)

I got a electric fan from them too, but it sounds like you want to go used.

great fans, ran them on my old dodge, my brother runs them on his truck, and i'm lookin to get a set for both my rides(the ranger, and dodge 2500). def could notice an increase in power, along with better cooling and heating up on cold mornings.

they also offer group and club pricing, maybe one of the mods could work somethin out with them......

is this for a stock application?

or is it for a custom engine radiator setup?

I have the flex-a-lite efan made for RBVs. It works well enough and was easy to install. It's a little expensive compared to finding junkyard gold but I didn't want to have to mess around with figuring out how to retrofit a Taurus fan onto my Ranger and figuring out the wiring involved. Although knowing what I know now, I probably would be more willing to figure out how to wire it, since I know now they make easy wiring kits specifically for converting to an Efan and how easy the installation was for the flex-a-lite fan I did put in.

The only thing about the Flex-A-Lite fan I'm not crazy about is the temp sensor included in it. It is a probe that you're supposed to insert between the radiator fins near the radiator output. It always seems like it wants to fall out, maybe I'll zip tie it one of these days to keep it in place.

basic wiring is dirt simple.

but depending on actual needs etc it can get complicated

i run several over the years. when i do extended idling i prefer to hook processor power on through the fan fuse/fuses so it kills the engine if they blow.

t0x1k, when you say starter relay? what type are you referring too?

The solenoid..sorry.

like the big fat bastard old school solonoid? what are you doing to keep them alive? or are using a cd variant like for some of the gp controllers??

Yeah, I'm looking to run this on a fairly stock application, mostly because I will eventually need to replace my mech fan since I split that seam.

I would rather go used, this is a budget build, not looking to spend tons of money, but I've been playing with the idea of an E-fan for a while. Figured now was a good time to poke the idea with a stick.

Whaaaaaa?
Lol, I just bought a solenoid that would replace the factory solenoid and wired it up like it would be a relay. Things got the loudest clunk when kicking on.

standard ford starter relays always fail on me, thats why i usually just pair up reg 40 amp relays.

87 Ranger Super, 2.9L, M5OD, BW1354,

the taurus is overkill for that, but overkill isnt always bad.
