When you turn the key on you should hear the relay click on then there is a delay after you turn the key off after a few seconds the computer turns off. Maybe mess with you ignition switch while it is running and see if the relay responds to wiggleing the key. There is a rectangular 8 wire connector white or grey i cant remember its by the ignition coil it supplys key on hot to the relay and then the computer runs direct from the battery. Take that 8 wire connector apart also and clean it good after you put it together take a small screwdriver or ice pick and push all the pins in fully from both sides

The relay clicks, then after I start it up and start driving then the relay keeps clicking, test drove it tonight got out on the highway wouldn't go any faster than about 30mph then I'd shift into 4th and it would start slowing down even worse. Pulled into a place off the road, yanked the damn relay out now it runs just fine WTH. Any issues if I leave the relay out? Hell no because it runs just fine apparently it isn't needed as everything that worked before still works now so the relay is sitting on my desk and the truck still runs and drives.

what gauge wiring did you use for the new stuff?

I'm going to be installing a 3 gauge set for the temp, oil pressure, and voltage as those gauges never worked the fuel gauge works just fine so its staying as is. Gauges are by Sun-Pro (Snap-On Division), they were $30 at Autozone for the set. They look nice, had a temp gauge in another truck exactly like this set and it was a great gauge, easy install, this install is being done at my local high school as someone needed a project vehicle so I'm saving some money on a bunch of things, after Christmas break they're changing my valve cover gaskets and doing the head gaskets as well.

Took it out for a drive this morning with the relay for the computer disconnected and its running great. Apparently this whole computer thing isn't all what everyone tries to claim as far as I can tell it isn't running anything or the truck probably wouldn't be running with the relay sitting on my desk.
