man these folks cant get the carb right from oriellys, so im going to go ahead and make a metering block for my feedback carb, but i have a few questions. what do i need to cap off on the feedback carb? also do i need the throttle valve thingy? the dam thing at idle constantly raises my rpms to around 2k, and drops back to 850, then raises again. do i even need this? ive been searching but i need to know exactly what all i get rid off and what i keep, i know the alt wires, and the guage wires, so does everything else go? im going to try to do this tonight, so any help is appreciated. also where do i hook up the distributor vacuum line to on the feedback carb?

All you need to do for the carb is put the metering block on it and use the screw on the side of the carb that holds the butterfly open. do you have the duraspark installed just unplug the idle control motor and use the screw on the side to adjust the idle it is by the throttle cable. you might be alright with the carb you have on there your kinna unclear on how you have it hooked up. All the vacuum lines need to be plugged except the one from the dizzy to the intaske manifold. what carb do you have from orielly`s and do you have the vacuum leaks on the bottom of the carb sealed felpro make a spacer # 60529 for about $18 that adapts the nonfeedback carb to the EGR spacer on the 2.8. Let us know what you come up with.

they just keep sending the feedback one:sad:

havnt got everything on yet, just making sure, going to do it tonite or tomorrow before i go out of town

You can't order a carb for a Ranger and expect to get a non feedback type. It has to be for a late 70's (78 or 79 I think) mustang or pinto with a 2.8. Or you can get one for a late 70s early 80s 302 with a 1.08 venture size stamped on the side. I found one on a 1980 F100 302. Then you just swap the jets from your stock carb. Just be sure that whatever you get still has the ID tag on it because it's a PITA to get the right rebuild kit for it if you don't have the model number off that tag.

i ordered one for a 79 pinto, but they kept getting their part numbers wrong, so i sent it back and im gonna just make the metering block for the feedback carb i have now(seeing as theirs nothing wrong with the carb)

If the original carb is ok it's the easier way to go as you don't have to worry about re-jetting etc. The metering block only takes a few minutes to make and is easy to set up, fine tuning may take a little time to get it the way you like it but it's not difficult.
