Drunk driver tottaled my ranger NEED ADVICE

if you want kbb fight for more. at least 2-3 grand more than kbb.

Just tell them KBB is the starting point.........period. They HAVE to pay that at a minimum. Fight for the rest. Websites, receipts etc. But don't back off KBB.

So here is the latest. I talked with my insurance and they are willing to reevaluate my truck. But Im having a hard time finding another truck 91 or 92 that is close to the same condition with my add ons to have them compare it to. So if anyone sees one for sale on craigs list or anywhere I can send them the add and they will re evaluate it. I dont want anyone to go outta there way to search for adds for me but if you happen to see anything good when your cruiz n adds let me know even if you think the price is way to high
Thanks alot

You said the KBB was about $3900. Several said that was way too high for what it was. I's sure be happy with taking that and running. All the extras are worth nothing to the insurance company unless you upgraded your insurance to cover them. It would be the same as putting a $2000 paint job and $2000 worth of wheels and tires on it and expecting the insurance to cover their lose. Despite my doom and gloom, don't give up hope and the fight.

they are offering me around 1800 right now no where close to the KBB and if I want to keep the truck they will take 400 off that. If they would make a offer around KBB I would tell them to write the check and Ill sign what ever ya want

Tell them to write you a check for $3000 and you keep the truck. Thats enough to fix the truck and get it painted.

I wouldn't look on craigslist or Ebay or any forum...Look on used car dealer lots and AutoTrader mags...Go to your local fuel station and get you a used car for sale mag, and browse through that and find your comparables, you find them at top dollar, which is where you would have to go to "replace" your vehicle as soon as you get a check from the ins company. Not only will you find your comparables faster and at the highest price in your area, but it is also publically noted for sale, not just an advertisement somewhere, as well as the comparables being in top shape and looking there best, just like yours was before the accident. Find you a stock truck with the same options as yours (4.0L, 5 spd [or auto], 4x4, pw, pdl, sunroof, etc. [whatever you had]) and then add prices in for the lift, lockers, etc. (get all new prices for aftermarket parts straight from the manufacture's website, after all, you can't buy this stuff used, such as the lift kit for $25), and don't forget to go to your local mechanic's shop, 4x4 fab shop or offroad shop to get actual quotes for install prices on this stuff, right down to the installation price of a battery with new battery ends if you had it...Take pics of all the mods you done or had done, and get written quotes for that. Take that to the insurance company, and take it there with firmness. You might not get the entire list, but if you tell them this is what you had, and this is what you lost, and then put the shoe on the other foot, and ask them if they lost there house, and they paid market value for the house, but the ins company only wanted to give them half of that, how would they feel?? Make sure you are talking to someone who has the authority to make the decision to add the values in, like a manager or supervisor. Usually the adjuster just slides the paper across the table to the amount approver/check signer for final approval...

IIRC most insurance companies make you sign a waiver stating that aftermarket parts aren't covered. I'm 90% sure mine did.

So I just got off the phone with my insuruance and they are going to re evaluate the truck aginst one i found for sale for $5999. So that should bring there offer up! I hope. I want this mess done so I can get on fix'n it. I NEED 4wd!!!And would love to get gas milage again.

Looks like this whole mess is done. I was able to get them up to $3200!!!! Get ready for the icing on the cake..........I KEEP my truck!!!!!!!!!!!! So Ill be making a flat bed. My next questins for you guys is what would I have to do to my truck, or is it even possible, to carry my welder? This would be very rarely and for short distances under 75 miles round trip. Its 1100lbs. and then I also have lead grinders ect. Or would I just break everthing. I only ask this because some times 4wd would be nice I have it on a 3500 chevy:( now. Works fine but it is huge and 2wd.

Good news on the payout.
1100# is over 1/2 ton, plus your other tools.... Very, very iffy. I'd do it if you are JUST going short distance and off loading the welder between. Adding in air shocks or bags would help keep the truck level when carrying the welder. Make sure your brakes are top notch. You wouldn't want to be liable if you got in an accident[insurance may not cover if you're overloaded and you may get charged by police if they feel you're at fault].

Good call on the brakes didnt even think of that! May have to add disks in the back. I was thinking air bags in the back I have them on the full size and love them.
