I have been chasing a vibration under hard acceleration ever since I did my transmission swap. I found some of it was my driveshaft was a hair too long and it was bottoming out so I had it shortened two months ago. I pulled it out again last night and noticed the yokes were not clocked exactly the same.

Looks like a shy 5.5 degrees off.

The confusing thing is the first driveshaft I had made when I first did my V8 swap was off more and didn't vibrate under hard accell so I don't know if this would really be my problem.

It is just a single piece telescoping driveshaft, no carrier bearing.

Is there a spec how far out it can be?

Getting kind of old, I have been to two shops for a total of three times and there has been something wrong every time...

Im no expert but i dont think that would cause vibration under hard throttle. Probably could at cruise though.

Id be looking at mounting points/rubber isolation...torque can do weird things.

I have been... two exhaust pipes are possibly rubbing but that is about it. It isn't a constant thing, like acceleration when about when I get into the secondaries. I would think it would be making more torque before that.

I have a little vibe on the highway at cruise but that could very well be the 11 year old mud tires doing 11 year old mud tire things.

Driveshaft thing... still kinda concerned if it is ok to run or if it is beating on my t-case and differential.

:iamwithstupid:

That little bit off would probably be barely noticeable at 100mph.

It sounds more like you have an issue with pinion angle under acceleration.

Driveline angle was out of wack to start with, I made the mistake of using my phone to check the angles and it is apparently not very accurate. I lowered the trans mount 3/4", pinion is still a degree and a half a higher than the t-case... it made no difference at all.

I know you want the pininon 1-2* under the output but I am within the 3* now that everybody says. I doubt every otherwise stock truck running around with Belltechs is 1-2* under like it is supposed to be and nobody complains about them.

How is your pinion angle? I kicked a shim out a lil bit on one side and was getting a vibration. Turns out I stretched ubolts.

I am going to recheck it again tonight but two months ago or whenever I changed the trans crossmember it was within spec.

I have no shims... and with the extra long antiwrap Ruffstuff perches so I can't really do shims.

Maybe getting some axle wrap?

You just put new springs on... everything centered and torqued properly?

lol, the first thing I did was change out the whooped springs for Explorer springs thinking it was spring wrap. Also deleted the lift blocks in the process to help eliminate spring wrap.

Youre running an automatic right?

It aint torque converter related?

M5ODR2.

The NP205 transferring some weird harmonic to the frame via its mount has come to mind too...

Do you have a dial indicator that you could mount somewhere and check to see if the driveshaft is even straight? I'd expect yokes to be out of phase on my own work. That's awful sloppy for a shop to produce something like that and charge you for it. I would have them fix that.

Any slop in the slip yoke? I've had some that were pretty sloppy that would vibrate on acceleration or deceleration.

How's your 205 attached to the frame?

My junk has so many vibrations and noises these days that I kinda stopped trying to fix them.

Didn't you go pro it before and see it wind up.... maybe try to go pro again.

You might need something like this... maybe you do already if that is the case maybe those joints are defective.
