got a 96 supa cab with bad carrier bearing on d shaft I can get the 4 little bolts off the u joint and drop the shaft but what is the size of the big nut on the inside of the shaft that lets me gain acess to the bearing? And do i REALY need a puller? Please respond if you know i got to go to work today lol

Thanks
Ryan

I happen to have my 95 Ext Cab 2wd shaft off right now so I went and looked at it up close. The little bolts are 8mm, so I'd bet the big nut is metric too....looks like a 20mm or 21 mm. Don't know about using a puller...did mine last in 2005, so I don't remember having any major issues. But for me, I'm done with the two-piece shaft and am in the process of locating a big aluminum shaft, the manual trans. flavor. I've had enough of that carrier bearing headache.

OK I did IT NOW listen if you buy a Center support bearing (carrier bearing) buy the expensive one that has a smalller width inside race the cheap one is all ****ed up and wont fit at all, autozone advanced etc carry two- the cheap piece of s*** and the perfect match made in heaven one -if you are looking for a puller WHICH you NEED buy a stearing wheel puller works perfectly then its a breeze
