yea thats a waste of a truck. that guys brain is fryed to smash his own truck AND post it on here so he can get made fun of by everyone

I'm still wondering if the local police will see this thread, complete with photo of the intersection, and realize that a coverup has happened.

This thread could have serious repercussions, and not just for the OP.

To the OP, no matter what happens, I hope you realize just how light you got off. I have personally lost 2 friends to DUI idiots and have a third who is permanently disabled. ALL 3 were hit by repeat offenders who were driving on a suspended license.

I fervently wish that punishment were so severe that everybody would think long and hard before getting behind the wheel after drinking.

I asked a cop friend of mine how many drunks he had pulled over who thought they were fine enough to drive.

His response: ALL OF THEM

Only on the way back to the station did some of them begin to realize what could have happened if they hadn't been pulled over.

Here's some Food for thought.

Drunk Driving Penalties in other Countries

Australia:
The names of the drivers are sent to the local newspapers and are printed under the heading "He's Drunk and in Jail".

Malaysia:
The Driver is jailed and if married, his wife is jailed too.

South Africa
A 10 year prison sentence and the equivalent of a $10,000.00 fine

Turkey
Drunk drivers are taken 20 miles outside of town by police and are forced to walk back under escort

Norway
Three weeks in jail at hard labor, one year loss of license. Second offense within five years, license revoked for life.

Finland & Sweden
Automatic jail for one year of hard labor

Costa Rica
Police remove plates fron car

Russia
License revoked for life

England
One year suspension and a $250.00 fine and jail for one year

France
Three year loss of license, one year in jail and a $1000.00 fine

Poland
Jail, fine and forced to attend political lectures

Bulgaria
A second conviction results in execution

El Salvador
Your first offense is your last---execution by firing squad

This is the law in Virginia: Virginia DUI is a Class 1 misdemeanor. The maximum punishment for a first offense is a $2,500 fine, one year in jail, and the loss of one's driving privileges for one year. Additionally, all persons convicted of DUI are, by law, required to lose their driving privileges for one year (or three years for subsequent offenses). The Judge no longer has discretion over this punishment.

And there is no such thing as a friend of someone's Dad being a Police Sgt NOT writing you up on DUI charges either. It just ain't gonna happen no matter who you are. I just read where the Cheif of Police in a small southwest VA town was arrested for DUI by one of his own deputies. He blew a .12 on the meter. Anyting about a .08 here & you are legally drunk. Refusing to sumit to the field test gets you arrested on the spot & implies you are guilty.

He should give them to you for all of us chewing his butt out so much huh? lol

u stupid assholes leave the kid alone. he does have some balls to post his mistakes up here, help him and DONT chew his ass for something he KNOWS was wrong. he has my sympathy because we ALL take HUGE risks all the time and IF things dident swing out way many times none of us would be here. how many of you have done 100mph or better on the freeway? wrecked a vehicle sober? (wheeling counts), crossed the train tracks while the guards were going down?, gone over the speed limit by 20mph or more?. all of those things are EXTREMELY unsafe and a bet almost none of us havent done atleast one or more of them. all of those things could of easily lead to injury of an inocent person BUT we survived and maybe even had some fun. leave the fucking kid alone.

That is stupid. Some of those are ridiculous. I say the restrictions are already bad enough in some places. Some day people are going to learn that EDUCATION is the key, not severe punishment. Same with gun safety. Some education should be madatory instead of all these bs gun laws. That is why this is still America, we don't have communist ass laws like that. Personally I have never driven drunk, and I never will because I am smart enough to know it is dangerous for others and me. I don't even care if i get hurt that much, I just don't want to injure or kill an innocent person. I don't need to learn THE LESSON like some of you idiots, I have seen it enough already to know all about it. I have a friend like Southern3.0, and I swear that kid won't live to be 20. It sounds like he learned a lesson though, which he should not have had to in the first place, but he did, so leave it alone. What's done is done. Nobody was hurt this time, so just let the guy be. Yeah it was stupid, but now he is more mature then he was before and it only only cost him one pickup.

agree 100% with 86ford and Reginald Fairfield this is 110% out of line now this is crap and should stop

no offense, but are you retarded? you have his symathy? lets all take time and give a hug to someone that could have killed you or your family! so, its okay to take risks like driving drunk, that is what your post made it sound like, uh, he could have gotten home, it was a risk, all of us take risks. when most of us take risks, we dont endanger anyone else, and trust me, not everyone hits 100mph on the highway or does any of the stupid shit you mentioned! and you compare driving 20 over the speed limit just as dangerous as driving drunK? wtf! a few of you are either too young to understand or are just ignorent. he posted, let him get chewed! i hope to god that know one ever gets hurt by a drunk driver, but if they do, maybe you will understand why everyone is chewing him out. and calling everyone a$$holes? that really makes everyone want to see your point!!!
:bsflag:

I don't see a problem in here. Why should we censor people? Don't be abusive, but by all means, people should have a right to voice their opinion. What do you expect would be said when you confess on-line to driving drunk? A hell of a lot of people have lost friends and relatives to drunk driving. I lost a friend who was killed when her cousin drove around a rail arm and was hit by a freight. A close friend was killed the day I came home for recruiter's assistance--he missed a rendevous with me, got in a fight at a party and drove his moms little shitbox stationwagon head on into a van. The parents had an open casket so all the kids could see the stitches that were holding him together. His name was Kevin Patterson--probably one of the most popular kids in Boone, Iowa--this would have been about 1988. My brother's girlfriend was in a wreck in about 1986--four girls went off the road and hit a culvert. Only the driver was killed--I would have to find my highschool yearbook to remember her name. You can't be alive for long without encountering these instances.

So were all glad we aren't posting an obituary for a member, certainly. But as parents, victims and human beings, we have a right to respond to this young man.

But you're right, let's at least keep it civil. That doesn't mean it has to be friendly. Just follow the board rules when you post.

agree with most of it. but education doesnt work with everyone, i know a few dumb-a$$e$ that have had 3 DUI's. my boss being one of them, they had to attend classes after the first one! did nothing! education worked for me, it seems like it worked for you also.... didnt work for him, thats why punishment is in order, to try to make people that do it anyway, not want to do it! i do think he has learned his lesson, but people have the right to bust on him. after someone murders someone, they dont let them out of jail after a year because they learned their lesson.

agreed, education does work, but obviously not on everyone... Some punishment is in order as well, but definitely not death sentence for the first offence, you know what I mean?
