Currently running flowmaster muffler with full exhaust that exits behind the rear tire.. My question is if I cut off about 8" after the muffler and run a down pipe to exit away from the frame/body would I result in any sound difference? I was thinking of trying to change things up as I've had the "normal" exhaust setup for 5+ years and it would be a freebie mod that would take maybe 1/2 hour. Have any of you done this and if so could you tell difference in sound ? Any advantages/disadvantages you noticed ? Any advice is much appreciated..

PS.. I understand perhaps extra cab noise as the exhaust would be closer to the cab but I'm not concerned with that.

its prolly gonna sound the same unless u put a decent tip on it but im going to have mine exit in front of the tire with a nice size tip.

Thanks for the info.. Well the tip Is just basically to simulate the turn down.. its about an 8" tip with maybe 3" turned down (not even all the way but the exit would be flowing downward as to not blow against the body or frame so it would just be a 2 1/4 inch screw on type of tip.. I would just hack the bitch off behind the exhaust but I haven't looked underneath to see where it would flow to.

The tip only cost about $10 and I would have to bust out my saws all / hack saw to cut the muffler 8" after to get rid of the existing tube leading to the exhaust exit behind the tire.. My whole reason for the down aiming exhaust tip is to avoid an actual down pipe and welding ^_^.... Autozone had them but only up to 2" and that literally would fit inside my current exhaust tubing which was no good.

yeah thos screw on tips aint gonna help the sound check autozone they should have a couple clamp on tips that r like 3 inch's round

I want this setup basically as opposed to running it all the way out the back behind the rear tire. Just don't want to do all that work and have it sound the same. haha
