Hi,
My '86 has spent most of it's life outside and the upholstery has faded. Can anyone recommend a method/supplier to restore the color to the cloth door panels and maybe the cloth seats? I don't think paint would be a good solution, but a thin dye might work if I could find the original color that wouldn't smear.
Thanks,
Hal

It's dark red in most places. Where I hang my arm out the window is faded to an orange, and the tops of the seats are kinda pink. Where there was a lot of sun exposure, there is fading. Lower portions of the door panels look OK. Most of the carpet is OK. There was only a little vinyl on these door panels, they are mostly cloth.
The only thing I saw in LMC was some generic panels in vinyl.
Thanks...

those panels of yours had it come all the way to the top??

you'll probably need to head to an upholstering shop for them to do you some new panels from scratch then... that'd be the only way to have them look nice... mainly 'cause I think the rattle can method looks horrendous.

the seats can get done by them as well...

the great thing about doing that is they can make the stuff out of what ever material you want.

add some nice pipping, customize the backrest with a logo or your name... and replace all the wornout foam so you have new seats.

I think your are right, Kilroy. :icon_thumby: The only way for it to look right is to do it right. But did it mention that I am cheap? I may try some Ritz dye and acetone or such before taking the panels to a shop- just out of curiosity.
