Hi guys. New to the forum, always loved Rangers. Now to get to it...

Just picked up an 01 Ranger, automatic 3.0L (With chipped key! More on that...). Was an 82 year olds truck the last 10 years, looks great runs great but the window control on the driver side does not work for either window (occasionally the passenger window will work with it) and the unlock/lock switch only works to unlock consistently, 90% of the time won't lock.

Any ideas? Passenger window works fine from passenger side, door lock/unlock as well. I'm hoping just the switches for ease of replacement, but fear a short and I have no idea what to do in those situations. I assume not the relay because one side is working, and not the fuse for the same reason. Again, any suggestions?

On a side not, I'm trying to find a OBD reader for this Ranger that would allow me to program a 2nd key as it only came with one. I'll post a topic accordingly, but if anyone knows what type of OBD reader I need to program a second key with chip I would love to know!

It sounds like an issue with the wire harness running through the door jamb to the door. Wires can break internally due to flexing and keep the insulation intact. Check power at the switches before looking at wires. Check the switches for functionality as well. A wire diagram for what wire is what would be helpful as well incase you need to start checking wires.

I haven’t had to work on a Ranger door. So I don’t know how the door to body connection is setup. I would imagine there is a plug either on the door frame or the door that you might be able to look at as well. On the door would be better since you could check power there without poking wires.
