Door lock and un-lock problem

I am having an issue with my 2000 Ranger door locks. I don’t know if its the locking cylinder or the buttons on the door. Problem is I try to lock or un-lock the doors using the key phobe or the buttons on the doors and I get nothing it sounds like it wants to lock or un-lock but nothing movers. Does anyone know what the problem would be?? It’s the same thing on both sides any ideas?? Thanks for your help!!
