Door drain

After a recent heavy rain I noticed that my 2008 had about 3-4 inches of water in the doors This may be due to the age of the weather seal, although it looks okay. I would have thought there would be a drain hole, but apparently not as water was still present 2 days later as I waited to see if it would drain. I could just drill a hole but being a little ocd I made fittings using lamp nipples and jam nuts. I had my door panel off for an ongoing repair, otherwise I wouldn't have discovered this.

A guy named Bill stone did a horrible job pouring my parents foundation 35 years ago.

I feel as if the water in your doors is a rare case of misappropriated karma.. that should of been delivered to the OTHER bill.

Pictures would be cool though! It's crazy you couldn't feel or even hear that amount of water sloshing around in there.

Welcome to the site. Drain holes are probably clogged. No window belt seal is perfect, water gets in the door no matter the manufacturer.

I got my creeper to check it out. There are no drain holes. In the seam between the door bottom and door skin there's a small tight fitting rectangular plug. I assume this may be a hang point for painting. If it's expected to do double duty as a drain it's woefully inadequate. Easiest fix would be pulling the plug.

Imagine if you lived in a area with freezing weather (maybe you do, hadnt looked at your profile for information) You could of had ruined/buckled doors with that much water & freezing conditions.

That's the drain, there's one toward the front of the door too. You can pop them out and clean out whatever is blocking it. Here in road salt country, I take mine out every fall and squirt oil into the doors to prevent seam rust.

Mine has those plastic inserts in the drain holes as well. The get clogged over time and need cleaned out. I'm not sure what the point of the plastic inserts is since older vehicles didn't have them but since they are there, I've left them in place after cleaning them out.

I pulled the plug, there was no blockage behind it. I wouldn't call it a drain. Water might drip out, but based on my experience that may several days.
