earlier today my dome light wouldnt shut off unless the truck was running or the key was is on position. the door ajar light comes on and off still when each door is opened and closed so thats not the problem. when the key is in on position the light goes off but i can turn it on and off manually with the dimmer switch so i dont think thats the problem but i dont know what else to check. thanks for any help or ideas. i had to pull the bulbs so the battery wont go dead

Some times it is actually the switch in the door latch. Do you have an alarm/keyless entry? I have problems with mine taking forever to turn off, but it eventually does go off. I have not pulled my latch, but I did lubricate it through the catch opening and work the handle - when I had one or the inner handle. Anyway - good luck and let us know if you find the problem . . .

yes it does have keyless, i dont think its the door switch because the door ajar light goes off when i shut the doors

tried taking the batterys out of the keyless entry remote incase that was causing it, its still stuck on, after 3 days it still wont shut off

woot i got it, not sure how i found the fix but hey it works,

to get the dome light to shut off when the doors close i had to open the drivers door before i turned off the ignition. not sure what causes this but at least i know how to make it go away

Just wait - the truck will figure out your trick and in the end you will be climbing out the rear slider window or the side window to avoid opening the doors all together.

Remember, we do not own Rangers, the Ford Ranger owns us - LOL.

Hey Hazmat! from this I'll guessing that you've shaved your handles, am I right? If so do you use your remote entry module to fire the solenoids to open the doors? Is it an OE Ford unit?

Sorry for the 'thread jacking'

thanks
Pat
