Okay so the dome light when I bought the truck didn't work. The truck had other issues that were more important so now that I have fixed all the important things and have the truck running perfectly it's time to focus on the small things.

After reading and reading it seems the door latches like to stick on these trucks so I sprayed pb blaster in both doors and worked them and sprayed more and did so for about a week. Well the light goes off when the doors are closed now and comes on when open.

However the driver side door keeps sticking and then today did something even more strange.

Today when I closed the door to the truck the light went off, I made sure to check as it will work for a day or two and then need to be lubed again. Well today I went back out into the garage about two hours later and the light was on just as I went to open the door the light turned off........I waited a few minutes and then it came back on again. So it's like it's making partial contact and it's changing state without me even touching the truck

So now what? Should I pull the door apart and remove the hardware and do a really good clean on it or should I just buy some replacement parts?

Your dome light switch is either dinked or maybe could be adjusted to make better contact with the door.Seems to me I had a truck with same problem and I loosened the lock nut and screwed it out a tad more and that fixed it,if not junk yards are full of them.Good luck
