Does this look like a deal to you?

I say it is worth it. Think of the money you'll save from not buying a new truck. From the looks of it you will get years of use from that. Even if you don't own it for years think of the resale value for the truck because it will still have very low miles compared to everything else. I'm just a big fan of buying older vehicles because I know they saved me a lot of money.

The price price can be very subjective. It seems to be in great shape, so think about how long it has been since the last time you've seen one like that. You may have to wait a long time for a truck like that to show up again.

Heck, I waited three years to find the 1979 ford that I always wanted and I bought because I didn't want to wait three more years to find another.

So I guess it comes down to if you need or just want a truck.

Yeah, the only thing that occurred to me to worry about was if it sat for an extended amount of time. 34,000 miles in 13 years isn't much.
Really, I'm looking for something with more interior room for the kids, extended cab ranger or maybe an explorer. Granted, all in all the extended cab may not be any more room than an f-150. I'd prefer it be a 4x4, just for the crappy winters here... but I'm not sure what I'm going to get for $4,000 or less. The most important thing is I need something reliable as it will be my daily driver. Maybe I'll go check it out, can't hurt to look.

Haha... Ideally, I'd like to.
I just checked on one the same year as mine, nice looking with a 3.0 and 4x4 for $1,500...
What they didn't mention in the ad is it won't go into 5th gear : /

What do you think my odds are of finding a nice extended cab 4x4, that's not much older than 10 years and doesn't have a ton of miles on it for under $4,000?

Vehicles are very rarely worth more than their book value. While that one looks like it's in really nice shape, I still would never pay more than book value for it. I'd get book values from several different places and do an average of the high value...then offer right around that for it.

Screw it... I don't think I want the thing anyway.
I'm going to keep looking for a Ranger or Explorer.
Thanks for the advice though, I'll keep that in mind.
