Looking for a company or someone who makes or could make a pre runner, tube style front bumper for my 91 ford ranger xlt. I’ve no luck finding one. Thank yall! This is a repost since I posted it in the wrong thread.

Affordable Offroad has one for 83-88 on their website that shows up on EBay as for 83-92. Might e-mail them and ask about it.

Move Bumpers has several DIY kits that they claim will fit.

If you're handy with a welder, full width Jeep Wrangler bumpers are similar in width and common on local markets here.

I’ve emailed affordable off-road and they said they don’t make them, they have it listed as fitting 91s on multiple platforms, kinda misleading on their part.

The issue with these 2nd Gen trucks is the way the bumpers wrap around. AOR doesn't make one that wraps around.

I can't remember how the bumper bolts on in a 2nd Gen... but if it like a 1st Gen... you could use their elite series as a base and fab the "wrap around".

I actually used a stock bumper on one of my 3rd Gens as a base and just added tubing. It was pretty robust in the end.

I will vouch for AOR though... I have a pair of their bumpers on my 06 and my Bronco II. They do some nice work.

Don't forget to figure in a skid plate whatever you choose to do...

I think I may just end up having to have one custom made. But question is who could make it..?

If you're interested, it might not be a bad project for learning to weld. The steel doesn't cost much. You could possibly pick up a welder for less than it would cost to pay someone else.

Otherwise, try to hook up with some other pffroaders in your area. Get to know them and find out who they go to for that kind of stuff. Most of the Jeepers buy stuff off the shelf and bolt it on. Try to find the "other" offroaders.

Welding mild steel is pretty easy. On an off road bumper give each piece a few good whacks with a large hammer and if it doesn't come off it's good. LOL

Look around for local fab/off-road shops.

Once you don't like they price they give you.. buy a mig and 50 bucks worth of steel and learn a new skill 👍🏻

any more tips? I think I may have a friend weld one up for me! I’ll keep you updated brother

Second gen (89-92) uses different mounting points than first gen (83-88).

That said, second gen is easier to fabricate over first gen because of the way the front bumper mounts.

I have plans to build a winch bumper for my Choptop (second gen). Hopefully this year. I don’t have any drawings, I was going to pull the stock bumper off when I was ready to and figure out exactly how I want it. But that’s gonna be a hot minute. I need to fix my green Ranger and dump truck before I invest a lot of time and money on the Choptop, but it takes priority once I get these other two projects together. The dump truck may take awhile and I may be waiting on stuff at some point, in which case I may start on the Choptop early.
