Does anyone have diagrams of a 97 and 98 Ranger front frame?

I need to know how different the front part of the frame is if any. My Lil' Red crashed :bawling: and I want to look into a 98 or newer for the side doors that open. I am toying with the idea of putting my TTB on it. I have a lot of goodies invested in it and may part it onto another. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hello,

I know the suspension is different, but how different is the frame? ie measurements.

I believe the frame rails are basically the same, but the front crossmember is totally different along with the fact as stated above, 97 is twin I beam design and 98up are upper & lower control arms, so you would have to transfer those mounts also. Be easier & cheaper to clip the 98 to the 97 or visaversa IMO!:icon_welder:

Hello Chvlfrk,

I understand that they are different suspensions. What my problem is, I have a now wrecked :bawling: 97 that has been built up to be very reliable and dependable. I want a 98 cab because the side doors open. I want the TTB transferred over because I have a Skyjacker Suspension System that cost a lot of money and I am very happy with. You say cuttin' the frame and welding it to the 98 would be easier? I'm not seeing that. Please elaborate.:icon_cheers:

Reason I say that is, I was thinkin bout puttin a R&P setup on my 94 RAT Ranger build for clearance issues, have researched it, and have been advised against it due to bump-steer...........for you to remove & install the front crossmember to accomodate the I beam setup to include steerin box to the 98 frame, it would be easier & cheaper IMO to clip it.

I checked with a local frame shop and was estimated $250 to clip a 98up frame section (from the front cab mount to the bumper brackets) to my 94. Just my 02!

Hey Chvlfrk,
Ok, I don't understand what you mean about the bump-steer. I have the Superlift inverted K steering linkage upgrade. So are you saying I have to relocate the steering box also. I was thinking all I need to do is move what ever bracketry I needed for the TTB and transfer it over to the new (98) frame. Whatchyou think amigo.

It would likely be easiest to put a '98 or '99 cab onto the '97 frame if you want the 4-doors.

Not all 98+ have the 4 doors. The last two super cabs i've had were still 2 door.

It was an option.
