I mean it's like how many people are living pay check to pay check and still can't resist the temptation of owning a f-150 or f-250, with suspenion lifts and oversized tires? with monthly gas bill's comparing to small rental appartment?
I am observing that almost every human seems to be missing brain cells in at least a few ways we choose to live life.
Personally as far as vehicles I made the right choice. I purchased a 2006 Ranger sport for $8000 in cash. Yet I know every other guy in my financial situation would of bought 2006 f-150 for probably double the price. I think this shows that we are getting obsessed with big vehicles. Yes I admit they are luxury but I am finding a trend in vehicles getting bigger and bigger as more years roll by.
I remember the day when just a regular f-150 seemed like a big fancy truck. Now you see very young adults driving f-250's with crazy lifts and tires on them. Is this a sign of wealth or bankruptcy? :icon_confused:
.

Small trucks are ghey. Did you not get the memo? (sarcasm font)

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

I think vehicles are getting bigger. I don't like the trend myself. I do like the big 4x4's but can't afford one.As to wealth or bankruptcy probably the latter, with gas prices the way they are. I would not buy a full size truck today, too big. The ranger was "right" sized.

I bought my 08 f-250 ccsb diesel 2 years ago because well to be honest I deserved it. I work my ass off 12 hours a day six days a week and I figured I deserved something nice. The ranger is nice back and forth to work and such but on my free time I want to enjoy and ride comfortably. I could be out partying, going wild, living it up (im 23) but I and being responsible and doing work.

Also I figured if I started a family a crew cab full size would help out a lot.

I deleted the dpf and all for fuel mpg only the added power was a bonus. no lift and I don't roll coal or anything. Its just a factory truck. Factory wheels and tires even.

I use it to haul my dads toys around and make a little money on the side by towing things for people locally.

On a 5 year loan (bought 2 years ago) I have about 6 months until its paid for.

Around me it's fairly new Escalades, Navigators, Expeditions, Sequoias, and the like. No lifts, but 22 inch rims with rubber band tires, tinted out glass and blinding HIDs. I see them being run hard dodging through traffic like they are $1000 beaters. Usually they have at least two tires appearing to have less than 15 pounds of air in them. I do not imagine many of them are purchased with cash.

your really not thinking this through.

I tried to find a newer Ranger. They had a zillion miles or were priced the same as a 150. I bought a 150 that gets 1 mpg worse than my Ranger. Explain my error?

Actually that would get you a pretty decent '06 F-150, dad got a really nice '05 4x4 a year ago for quite a bit less than that.

I got a F-150 because I wanted room, it didn't cost much more than a Ranger and got about the same milage. I was pretty much I could get a brand new Ranger or a 3 year old F-150 with 25k miles... I haven't regretted my decision yet. Knocking on wood the thing has been a bulletproof tank of a truck and now that I bought an acreage I have appreciated its heft pulling equipment around.

Now keeping the Ranger instead of the dd the F-150 replaced, I have kicked myself a couple times for that...

Honestly if i had the money i would buy a full size over my ranger. Don't get me wrong i love my truck, but the room would be nice. In my life right now a full size would be better because i don't offroad, and i haul often. I can barely fit my fourwheeler in my ranger much less a moose. As for fuel mileage, my moms f150 gets the same, maybe even better gas mileage.
Honestly if you are worried about gas mileage buy a small car. No truck that isn't 2wd and 4 cylinder will give you anything good. They're all pretty much the same.

I agree bigger is better I'm just saying I couldn't afford it. Every f-150 that I saw would have double the mileage for the same priced same year ranger.

I guess people believe the adverts they see on the tv, Ford is claiming 35 highway for a 150 and dodge is claiming 36 for the ram 1500. Yea! that's gonna happen.

My ranger isn't going anywhere because I really like the mini trucks when they were mini.

When I can afford a second vehicle, I'm really going to be in a jam. I'd like an extended (or crew I suppose) 4x4 Ecoboosted F-150 or a diesel F-250 (no real reason though). The problem with them is I commute 60 miles round trip a day for work. My Ranger is getting about 19 mpg, which is doable, but tacking on a very expensive truck payment on that kind of mileage would kill me right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with a Focus hatchback next. I'd really only do that if the ranger was not under the knife indefinitely....Gotta have a truck!

LOL!! You guys are all wet, or worse. Anything that has less than 18+ wheels is a "little" truck!! LOL:icon_cheers:

So my dads ram 2500.and his old f350 arent big trucks because they have 17s and 16s? That's ghey. My ranger gets 10-12 mpg and I'm about to fix what's wrong with it and buy a a diesel, rather than wasting money on regearing to get better mpg and not being able to haul more than 2 people comfortably. Plus if I get a fullsize I can haul more hay for my moms horses.

I'm getting tired of not being able to lay sheets of plywood/drywall/etc. down in the bed of my truck; or carry more than two adults at any one time.

I got curious and was looking at 2002-2005 diesel excursions on craigslist last night...

It does seem that more people are either buying smaller sedans/hatchbacks or the ever increasingly large pickup. I liked the later '70s (through early '90s???) sized pickups.
