Failing is easy. Everyone can do it.
Hiya.

I'm getting my order ready for the rest of the ignition tune up. I found a decent deal with factory Motorcraft wires, and figured I'd do the Accel cap and rotor kit. (it's cheaper then Motorcraft from my usual supplier)

Last time I changed all of this? I had the upper intake plenum off for repair work. I've been looking it over pretty close. How in the wide world of my waist band is someone supposed to do the cap and rotor with that plenum in the way? Just wondering if there is a magic angle or something I'm just not seeing.

The way I do it, I take all the wires from the drivers side off the cap, undo the two screws, and just wiggle it. It actually comes out quite easily. The worst part is the screws. I usually use either a spring-style flex extension or an open end wrench.

Once the cap is off you can remove the whole distributor with the intake still in place.

I've got a small flex extender for 1/4". (back from my mechanics days 20 years ago LOL) That makes sense actually. Considering the truck was road tested today and did pretty well, except the speedo cable is shot--new one will be here on Tuesday.

After the last few days of having the truck down with the no start? I'm willing to toss some money at it for ignition parts.

Thanks!
