disciplerocks's Ford Focus "build" thread

Yup done for the day. Just need to walk away.

I've tried a one man bleeder, a mighty vac, motor off, motor running. No difference. Still have to pump clutch to get it to work and still nothing on the brakes.

Lets try this again. Build this thing to pull air from the reservoir.

Just got her home. Hope to have this worthy to haul the Focus. She may not look like much kid, but she'd got it where it counts.

No real updates. Picked up some Roush pedal covers today. Going to swap them out and sell my SVT ones.

So I am on alternator #4 and its bad too. Got it from the salvage yard with warranty.

I have a leak in my t-stat housing gasket.

Also need to do something about my steering. It may be off centered or something. I can turn right just fine, but it doesn't go very far left.

I'll get all the bugs worked out eventually. On an up note, I did get my clutch working correctly.

Count your spins on the wheel. should get 2 full rotations each way.

Alt 4 was good. Had a mix up on the wiring.

Cut and sleeved the rack on the driver's side.

Also decided to rust a hood. The look has grown on me.

Right now I am fighting to keep it running. It idles fine, but chokes and backfires under load like its running lean. But it happened all of a sudden. Nothing has changed other than the alt.

So I have been fighting a wiring issue for a couple weeks. Alt 4 grounded out inside and fried my switched power wire and my ecu. Took a while to trace all the wires down and determine it was the ecu though. Picked up a 95 F150 ecu yesterday and installed it. She fired right up after that.

So now you have the brain of an f150 and the heart of a mustang in a focus.....

I like it.

That poor little car, it needs a tow hitch on the back now.

After getting her running, I had a hesitation issue and it was backfiring out the intake at WOT. Swapped the MAF and the TFI from the F150, swapped back to stock coil, installed new fuel filter, checked firing order. No change.

But when I slightly covered the MAF housing, it got better. So I did this and it ran pretty good. Took it down the road and back with no problems. So it looks like I have a vacuum leak still somewhere.

On a side note, I'm glad I had the temp gauge wired in. She started getting pretty warm. The fans are not coming on.
