disciplerocks's Ford Focus "build" thread

No I'm done with my FF prep. I am startting to work on a full build. M62, head decked, larger valves, W/M, L/S, forged internals, aluminum flywheel....

Wish I could just lincoln lock the damn thing without it affecting steering and tires wear. I dont want to spend the 700-1200 for a L/S carrier. From what I have heard the Phantom Grip is crap.

Got some cleaner from work. Its badass stuff. And got some ceramic paint. The rotors are supposed to have an expoxy/teflon/ceramic coating. Since you need special equipment to re-teflon, I figured I'd try this out. Its main purpose is to fill in the gaps between the rotors making them more efficient. I figured this would probably work if cured properly and should keep whats left of the teflon on there.

Down to the rotor bearings. Can't cut anymore off.

I can save about .5" by keeping the GM pulley because of the offset.

The case is still .75" longer than my M45. I need things to match up for the bypass valve you can see here.

I should be able to move the assembly toward the belt the other .25" or so. There is plenty of mounting surface on the manifold.

Bye bye silencer ports

Getting close

Somehow I was an inch off on my measurement on the length of the case. Which means the bypass valve isn't going to line up by about 1.5-1.75". I have an idea though.

I just about got the sides trimmed down enough to squeeze it into my bay and check things out, but then my angle grinder gave out on me. You can see the smoke.

I am so close, yet its the little things I need to clearance now. I've had it in and out at least a dozen times.

Well I got her in and hooked up minus the bypass valve. I blocked it off and started it. I had to keep revving it to keep it in boost without the bypass. And it sounded bad. I knew the coupler was bad, but not this bad. Looks like its gonna need a rebuild before attempting to run it and no time before FF.

Best run from today. Still on all seasons.

I still dig this thing :icon_thumby: I do have to ask, how much of a pain is it to work on? It looks like everything is mighty cramped in there, but you seem to swap things around without giving it much thought. Are the photos just decieiving on how cramped it is in that engine bay? Or?

I can pull the blower off and reinstall in 30 minutes. But I literally have to lay on the motor to do it.

uh oh you've been thinking focus for the last few weeks. Time to do something gnarly!

What are you doing for engine managment? Megasquirt, or do you have someone who can reflash the stock ecu?

SCT. And I have a remote tuner.

Ok lets update this thing.
