disciplerocks's Ford Focus "build" thread

Not to sound like the dummy that I am, but why you changing blocks????

Robert

sent with a can of corn and a raw corn on the cob.

Seeing as your gonna put psi through this wouldnt head studs be a good idea?

Even if you build it for 8 psi you know one day its gonna see 15.... may as well do them while its easy

If I find a good deal on some before installing I probably will

Dude, if I give you $50 will you come put one of those in my BII?

Lol. You should talk to RangerSVT. He's the V8 swap master.

So I finally get the car together and running. Been taking it to a few local shows after FF13. So what to do now? Tear it all apart of course!

Current state:

Stock 95 5.0 HO
95 F150 ECU
Foxbody upper intake
MSD cap, rotor, and coil
Massive plug wires

Build plans:

97 Explorer block (have)
Forged internals (have)
GT40 heads (have)
1.6 roller rockers (have)
Wolverine cam (have)
Explorer OBDII wiring harness (have)
Distributorless swap (have)
Coil on plug (have)
4.6 ECU (have auto, need manual)
F150 lower intake (have)
M90 Eaton supercharger (have)
More bracing to motor and rear axle
Swap from solid trans mount to poly (have)

Still need head gaskets, Mustang oil pan and pickup, and to custom make a whole new wiring harness.

You may be asking why use a 4.6 ecu? Why not use the Explorer ecu? Because there is no manual 5.0 OBDII Explorers, but there are 4.6s. Plus the wiring is fairly close.

Now on to the pictures.

Current state

Explorer block

Partial teardown

Distributorless electronics (maybe an intercooler)

GT40 heads

Foxbody rods and Speed Pro pistons

4.6 ECU

F150 lower intake (larger runners and AIT in manifold)

COPs

M90

With that being said, I may or may not swap to OBDII. Still undecided on that.

This project is titties....why titties you might ask? cause titties are freaking awesome. Let me know when you want to get rid of that dizzy stuff...

Since I am building a separate motor, I am probably going to keep it with the motor when I resell.

And I am going to try to use an Explorer 5.0 TB elbow if I have the firewall clearance.
