it seems to me the switch for a auto and manual would, or should swap out when it comes to wiring it up, they both break the circuit when NOT in neutral or park, if you can remember to either put the tranny in neutral or push the clutch in, then I would say hooking the two wires together should do the trick. I think... !?!, I had a 69 Cougar that the park/neutral switch went out on, I just hooked the two wires together, but I did almost run over a tree one day when I thought I had it in N, and it was in D, and when it fired, I revved the engine up...... woooo, good times when I was a young man and thought I knew everything...
any who, it would be a good thing if you ever needed to move the truck a little and didn't want to start/or couldn't start it, ...............just put it in gear and hit the starter..
