it seems to me the switch for a auto and manual would, or should swap out when it comes to wiring it up, they both break the circuit when NOT in neutral or park, if you can remember to either put the tranny in neutral or push the clutch in, then I would say hooking the two wires together should do the trick. I think... !?!, I had a 69 Cougar that the park/neutral switch went out on, I just hooked the two wires together, but I did almost run over a tree one day when I thought I had it in N, and it was in D, and when it fired, I revved the engine up...... woooo, good times when I was a young man and thought I knew everything...

any who, it would be a good thing if you ever needed to move the truck a little and didn't want to start/or couldn't start it, ...............just put it in gear and hit the starter..

I know jack about autos, but I know on a manual there is a switch on the pedal which prevents you from turning the motor over, but I usually bypass it on every vehicle I ever owned except this one and I have turned it over in gear. A manual shouldn't make a difference what gear the tranny is in as long as it thinks the clutch is engaged. Now an auto will only start in park or neutral and there lies the wiring problem.

Like the manual trans (Yes, it does have a neutral switch in the trans, this is how the ECU knows if its in gear or not) the Auto has a neutral safety, and in the harness between the ECU and trans is where you can find it....

Hmm why would the ecu need to know if a manual is in neutral?

ECU uses if for a variety of reasons, including A/F ratio, timing, rev limiter, etc...

Oh ok. There are 2 plugs on my fm-146. I knew one was for reverse lights. Guess that would be the other.

Jon if you would be willing to pull that clutch line for me I will pay you for your trouble since I wont be able to make it down there for awhile since I am stuck on 3rds.

For the starting issue, that Expo you have has a Clutch interlock switch jumper... 'cause it's auto. Look at how your BII is wired to the clutch interlock switch(on the pushrod of the master cyinder), and go look in the same spot on the Expo. The wiring is all there tucked behind the plastic kick panel for a clutch interlock, but it has a jumper plug in it to bypass the switch. Take that plug and plug it into where your current one plugs into the interlock. Bobsyeruncle, clutch inerlock bypassed. Wire up the NSS (black & pink wire IIRC) and it should start without clutch action.

Also, if you have a 93+ slave cyl. you will need a 93+ master as well. Otherwise your clutch will be crack the sidewall kinda stiff.

I looked for the switch. Usually its a button with 2 wires going to it, but all I seen on mine was a big plug with several wires in it. Assuming its for the cruise, but I also assume the switch is wired in there too, just dont know which wires.

Mine had probably 4 wires in it in a non-auto rig.

Yeah mine has 6. Pretty sure I need to jump the 2 pink wires. Here is another problem though. I follow the wires to the engine bay and they go to nothing because the 4.0 harness is an auto and the wires don't exist.

Ok I have spark and fuel. Still cant turn it over by the key. This is a bit frustrating.
