disciplerocks's B2 build thread

Swapping a carrier isn't a big deal. Pinion depth will not change, just check your pattern after putting it back together and make sure the backlash is still good.

Before you put the ring gear on the new carrier bring it over and I'll weld it up for you.

Also are you off this coming Friday night? It's the last street car night at Chandler for the year. $20 to make all the passes you want.

I get off at 3. Text me my phone broke, lost your number.

New carrier pulled. Got me some e brake cables and a handle finally too.

Ok, you got the carrier, but, where's the drive/driven gears?? Also, is your original carrier damaged, if it wasn't, you can just swap the drive and driven gears instead of the carrier....would save you the time of swapping the ring gear and setting it up...

I got the spider gears, shims, and the pin too. And yes my carrier was broken too.

Yep, I think I see a crack forming!! :D

What amazes me is the passenger side c clip fell out, yet I drove it home with no problems. Guess the brake caliper held it in.

That being the case (which it did hold the axle in), I'd check your brake pads out, I'd be willing to bet it wore one of them down....

can i get a closer pic of the left jackstand??? what is that? looks weird...

and i never realized how much damage was on your driver side...

My suspicions are confirmed.

I always wondering if something failed, and the c-clip wasn't holding the shaft in, if the caliper would have enough strength to keep it all together long enough to drive home.

Now I know; yet another advantage to the 31 spline disc swap.

With drums this would not be the case, and I bet you'd still be on the side of the road :bawling:

The caliper is hanging in front of the jackstand. And There really isn't much damage on the drivers side, just the door got pushed in when I had it removed one time. I'm too lazy to pull the inside panel and punch it back out.

For sure. Ask RangerSVT how he knows.

ohhhh that's the caliper.. gotcha.

Note to self...get a 31 spline axle or get the disk brake conversion for a drum setup.
