Hello TRS, I'm coming here from the sport trac froum...well because i sold my trac. I got a 1987 ranger 4x4 and I'm swaping out the little 2.9l for a 5.0, could any one help me out? I'm in Katy and everywhere i go its so expensive. I've read the help page http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/V8Conversions.html and i really could like to do it myself, could some one please help? thanks.

Or atleast tell me what the cheapest place is in Katy? i already have a 5.0 bronco to do the swap with

Depends in your drivetrain placement. I ended using both my stock shafts, so its possible...

Okay, cool. so any EFI 5.0l engine with a 5.0transmission will work? same with the tcase?

Depends on your taste for trannies and tcases. There are a few that will work...

I'm going with a 5.0 tcase from an f150, and tranny from a 5.0 explorer.

Depending on what Tcase you use from the F series, you may have to clearance the frame and/or modify your trans cross member. If you are using an ex trans, you will need the correct ecu to operate it...
