looking for a manual transfer case for a conversion, Car-Part lists those 2 options for 2002.
anybody know what the difference is?

Did the ranger even offer a manual case in 02?

Unless one is for a manual trans and the other for an auto. What year did the FX4 Lvl 2 come out?

Im pissing in the dark here

Yes, the 2002 FX4 had a manual-shift transfer case IF it also had a stickshift transmission (same goes for 2003 FX4-Level II).

I'm not aware of two different manual cases those years, maybe one might have some sort of an internal revision? What that revision would be though, I don't know. I too am just guessing... :dunno:

I don't know of any changes in the manual transfer case for 02 and 03. I replaced the bearings and seals in mine. I was not asked for a tag number when I bought the parts. They should be interchangeable anyway.

The 1998-2011 BW1354e transfer cases are the same, only difference I have read about was yoke plate size on rear drive shaft connection, I think there was a 2.5" and 3" yoke, output shaft size was the same, so you could change yoke plate or driveshaft end to match

"e" are electric shift versions
