Diesel Years?

What years did Ranger offer diesel engines, including turbo, for the USA market?

Is it possibile (within the limits of someone who does not wear superman underware) to swap out a current gasser for a current non-USA diesel with out insurance hassles?

Currently there is a $21K 2002 Ranger Diesel on Craigslist but that is a boy toy truck.

Goal is a 5 speed, turbo in 2.5 - 3.0 L, 2wd, modern truck.

Should be 1983 to at least 1985, they are not very common either and hard to find parts for. If you have inspections they can sometimes frown on gas to diesel conversions, if it is not a US diesel engines that would also be a significant snag. Imported diesel pickups do not meet US standards and would be next to impossible to register.

I don't see where your insurance would really be all that concerned what engine you put in it. It may go up a little but I can't see them outright stopping you from doing it.

a more probable swap (atleast how i see it) is a cummins 4bt from a bread van or coke truck. they are realtively cheap and easy to find and will fit under the hood. mooktank had one he just sold on ebay but i have seen others. check out 4btswaps.com and have a look around.

yea 4btswaps.com if a really good site. Mooktanks truck was freakin awsome. I was pondering the idea of buying it when it was on ebay, but it was just too much.
