Diesel gelled, what's the best way to get running again?

iv heard that automatic trans fluid is goo to mix in deisel(or run in place of deisel if you can get it for free), just passing it on, i actually didnt know what a fuel bowl was on an f350, all i run into on a dail basis is mercades 3.0 5 cyl deisels,

Do not run modern ATF in diesel......... it's made to be non-flammable (not saying it won't burn, but you wont get the complete burn you need)

We had a big debate on another forum about this, the epa or whatever changed a law in the mid 70's on atf standard.

On the kero pump there is a sign that says it's unlawul to use as a motor fuel. Something to keep in mind.

That is a good point I didn't think of, all of the diesels we run into are off-road anyway running the red fuel. I don't know how they would check for it anyway though, plus with I don't know if veggie oil is lawful to use as a fuel... and a lot of people do.

I know of a guy that runs used ATF in his 6.9 F-250, he swears by it, I can't imagine what it is doing to his pump... :shok: But it does run quite well with it.

running off-road fuel in an on-road vehicle is very illegal. i have seen stations set up at large agricultural events where the DOT is dipping tanks to check for off-road diesel. because off-road is died red it takes multiple tanks of clean off-road to rid of the the red tint, also all they have to do is test the ppM and it would tell you what kind of fuel it is anyway. If you caught prepare for a huge fine.

Yeah it is a big deal to get caught running it in a registered vehicle on the street. However my dad runs a farm tractor repair shop that I also work at... and almost all farm equipment runs red diesel as it was intented. That is what I have delt with, I have never even worked on a diesel truck or pickup. The only people that don't have red diesel in their equipment are hobby guys. I don't even own a diesel engine (even my tractors are gas), so there is little chance I will get caught doing anything.

I just stated that red fuel part after Will pointed out that kero was certified as a motor vehicle fuel, and then I said that for what I do... it doesn't matter because it is all offroad anyway. Since nobody cares about what a tractor burns, I have never really cared if kero was certified or not as a motor vehicle fuel.
