They could have scavenged anything needed from the Foxbody and Thunderbird lines very easily. Even the Foxbody harness could have been lightly modified to be a plug and play set up in the Ranger.

Face the facts guys. Ford should be called Buzz Kill Motor Company.

Drill two holes in the engine crossmember and the 5.0 sits on convertible foxbody mounts. M5ODR2 sits on the factory crossmember in factory holes in the frame.

Ok, now we are down to cooling, electronics and driveshafts. It would probably need its own radiator, electronics as many have found are minimal using foxbody parts and driveshafts are driveshafts. The weird unsupervised driveshaft guy in the corner of the office would have loved the excuse to add a dozen more driveshaft variants to the the lineup...

Ranger had the 31 spline 8.8 since nearly the beginning for cab chassis trucks so if they really wanted to play that was already in the parts bin too.

That ain't no Lightning. There is no such thing as a four door four seat Lightning. And no such thing as a quiet Lightning either. A Lightning should have people rolling their window up when you pull up next to them at a stop.
