My credo
I need more sleep.
After looking up about the DMC DeLorean, I was led to the site, and here's what I found. DMC is still a company, they don't actually have any new models, but here's what they do. They go around buying up old DeLorean's, restore them and sell them, as well as make new parts for them! These cars sell for about $25,000-$55,000, so, there making more money than they were when the car actually came out. Lol! You can also send in your DeLorean and have them restore it like new, (and they put in new electronics, so, you don't have to worry about failures), as well as you can buy the parts and fix your own. I didn't know they were still around, but it's cool to see they still care about the car. They also sell luggage too, if that's what you fancy. There's also dealerships they have set up to sell them. Anyways, check out the site!

this company is not the same DMC that originally built the cars. its a totally different company, theyre just using the same name. they bought all the NOS parts out of warehouses and have shelves and shelves of parts, new and used. IIRC, there was an episode of modern marvels on history that detailed the whole thing...

Yeah, I know it's not the true company, but the idea is still cool, there actually working on an all electric DeLorean called the DMC-12 EV, they hope to bring out this year, but we'll see. But at least someone took the time to keep it going.

they bought the tooling also, but did the buy up DeLoreans cocaine supplies, snff sniff

I'm willing to bet a restore on one of those cars can get pricey rather fast...but I didn't find any testimonials or prices...

For some reason when those cars came out I really didn't like them...they were too fancy (advanced) for their time...but that was probably mainly due to what I was exposed to at the time...ie 1964 Mercury Meteor with the "breezeway window"...and other old cars...

heavy. My flux capacitor has been on the blink since 1985.

They also have all of the stuff to set it up like in the Back to the Future movies. My old Boss has one and they aren't really that good but he says that it is always an attention getter.

If it wasn't for those movies I don't think very many people would care much about those cars.

I think that's why you buy one, just for attention, rolling around in stainless steel car with gull wing doors isn't the most common thing. I still think they are cool, but if it wasn't for the movie I probably wouldn't have thought they were so cool. Though, they are taking them, re fitting them with a very fancy leather interior with modern gadgets, and putting and electric motor into them. I think that would be cool, but at a price of $100,000, I won't be buying one soon.

The DeLorean is an unique vehicle, but for the price tag they are offering on a refurbished model is too much for a common buyer. It is definitely for the collector, hobbyist, or attention getter.

Yeah, I would like to see someone do an engine swap in one, and churn out a monster.

I wonder how big of a problem you would have with these cars and the doors if you park in a crowded parking lot, oops can't get the doors open.

I would be more worried about door dings in a car designed with disposable body panels that are intended to be thrown away than fixed/straightened.

Stainless is a double edged sword...

You can't really get out the window either.
