Any ideas on how to prevent build-up of junk that fell between the bed/cab gap? Whaddya guys do to avoid this? Metal cover? Rubber flap? Kids' swim "noodle"? Rail covers? Am I missing an flap?

Removing the truck bed exposed a pile of sticks, mulch, and mud on the gas-tank, the frame, and against the cab. Looks like a little beaver dam. Perfect place for a rodent nest. Not!

I take my truck to the local coin-operated car wash once a week & use the long nozzle set on "High Pressure Wash". I go through every nook & cranny from top to bottom. Usually mud build-up underneath the truck takes a little while to remove-

the swim noodle or water pipe insulation sounds like a good idea ,however then you will have those items rubbing against the back of your cab & eventually wearing the paint off

And stuff will just collect on it, hold moisture and rot out the back of the cab and the front of the bed.

I never had that problem before. You must park out in the open. All my rides are garage kept. Maybe that's why. The best bet would to buy a all weather cover or a cab cover. I had them for my 83 4x4 Ranger and my 87 Nissan Hardbody 4x4 when I was deployed and they always looked great when I got back.

what my buddy was take a peice of stiff rubber and use self tapping screws and mounted it on the bed of the truck and it went to the back of the cab i will draw a pic on paint one sec. i know my paint skills suck but u kinda get the idea.

I have had zero problems with this, and is the first I hear about it being a problem

Thanks 509lifted, I'm going with your good idea. :-)

Um, I use this truck to haul stuff like mulch, sticks, tree branches. I admit it never sees a carwash, nor a garage. But I'd like it to last a while.

I'm gonna paint the undercarriage with "por15" or "rust encapsulator" or equivalent, after I finish wire-brushing the rust from underneath the front half. Back half is done, all brushed & primed & rust free. Amazing how much rust was hiding under there.

Not bad...you got the general idea across...and it actually looks like a Ranger...lifted with 4x4 and a cat on the front seat...lol

I used a program a few years back...Photo Impression...it was pretty good...but I like Paint...it's pretty good for being a free app...

Oh, forgot to mention...never had this problem either...but I did put a rubber flap over the gas tank where the wires and hoses connect...on an 88 this just happened to be located at the bottom of the cab/box split...thought it was a strange place to have that stuff exposed...
