Dans 94, RCSB, 4.0, 4x4, 5spd

I will have to check I can’t remember but I want to say it’s the SLX because it has the good reticle and multiple brightness settings for NVGs as well which is cool.

I have an Eotech XPS03 and a magnifier and they are great, but $1,100 worth of optics on a $100 gun is stupider than $200 worth of gunsmithing and $200 worth of optics on a $100 gun lol. Plus red dots aren’t as easy to teach people to shoot at varying distances.

You should ask your buddy how many batteries he carries for his eotech. They eat batteries even when stored off mine seems to need a battery yearly which is pretty darn annoying.

I prefer LVPOs. That way, you aren't dependent on a battery but having the reticle illuminated is nice to have. Especially when it's low light.

I concur with that as well, I have a 16” LWRCI with a 1-8x and my speed with that at close ranges is same/same with my speed with my 11.5 with eotech combo. The difference to me is that the LPVO is awful/unusable under NODs vs the eotech which is kinda king of passive aim IMO. Of course a simple IR device on the LPVO rifle or a micro red dot would then make the LPVO rifle as good as the eotech combo. It’s all user choice really.

What LPVO do you have and how do you like it? I have a cheaper 1x8 vortex and have wanted to upgrade to a 1-10 for awhile after using some I don’t feel the money is worth it for me. My vortex lighted reticle is kinda trash in full daylight too.

54R casings? You a Mosin man? I love mine, even though I rarely shoot it.

Also I’m highly considering dropping my m44 off at the gunsmith for a threaded barrel. Gonna see if he has enough meat to do it without removing the irons or effecting the bayonet. I have a 30cal can that would look siiiccckkkk on it, and make me actually shoot it more often.

I like Primary Arms scopes. The quality for the price you get is fantastic and several precision shooters I've talked to very much like the ACSS reticle they use. 1-6X is pretty much all I need for the terrain around here, though I could see 1-8X or 1-10X in certain hill top to hill top locations, where things are open enough, for them to be useful.

Went out again today with a buddy and made him drive the whole time to try and convince him to get a 4x4 mini truck. Trip was a blast I got him to hit some whoops, do some crawling, some little mud holes, and a lot of trail cruising. He got it stuck a few times and we did a bunch of hoping in and out to lock in the hubs and once we had to winch to a tree.

Also there was an exciting part when he hopped over a downed palm tree with a bit too much gusto and the driver side coil spring bounced off the top of the bucket. I didn’t bring a jack and I really need to buy an offroad style jack. I was able to use half a deer stand ladder I collected as trash to hook my winch high up a trees then push the spring back into place, tighten the retainer and continue on with the day without issue.

I’ll redesign my coil retainers and buy an offroad jack sometime soon!

Had 5x4.5 in my marketplace search for a few months now looking for some billet centerlines or any forged 15x7 or 15x8. Finally saw these pop up yesterday during a work poop and was able to snag them today for $150! They are 15x7 with 4.5” back spacing so they will be tucked in .75” narrower than my current setup but that’s okay. They are already polished pretty nicely and should shed a few more pounds off my combo.

Got egged into going out wheeling with a friend in his 2011 ranger. Had a great time as always and his a arm rough county lift somewhat impressed me. I feel like I need to pull my shocks for an inspection and check the pressures something feels off in the whoops. Also got just 100 miles on 11 gallons of gas. Not sure what’s wrong I’ll run it to and from work all week and see if it improves if not I’ll pull plugs.

Fantastic as always. I enjoy looking at your off road pictures, and how you built your ranger.

Thank you! I have gotten so much inspiration from this site over the years I hope I’m giving back a little.

Also hoping to snag a clean excab 93-94 4.0 5speed sometime soon.

It was long overdue for a wash, even pulled the wheels and tires off as the calipers were slammed full.
Anyone have a good way to mark each wheel/tire to help with rotating in my matching spare. I should have done something from the start but didn’t. Will a paint marker last? Sharpie? Spray paint?
Figure if I mark them 1-5 I can keep track of it atleast.

Clean really good and put a mailbox sticker on the inside? Those hold up better in our work environment (lots of hydraulic fluid) than anything else.

Ahhh I hadn’t thought of that, those things are dang sticky

Each time I do a rotation, I use the same pattern. The spare becomes the right rear, the right rear becomes the front left, the front left becomes the rear left, the rear left becomes the front right, and the front right becomes the spare. No marking required unless you have more than one set of rims and tires. Then the tires get marked with chalk on the side walls before they get stored.

Why did I not think of this? Just in time too I’m about to go cycle everybody around.

Ended up doing the above trick as well as using paint markers in the inside of the wheel and tire just to see if it lasts. Also rebuilt the coil spring retainer on the driver side to have much more strength and completely capture the coil. Inspected wheel bearings again and noticed the passenger was a tad loose so I snugged that up.

Pulled all 4 shocks out of the truck for a cleaning and inspection and noticed something surprising. The fronts were right at 240-250psi, but the backs were almost empty! Driver side was like 20psi and passenger is near zero. I’ve heard a lot of horror stories of shock QC these days and the fronts came from Wheel every weekend who checks each individual shock before sending them out. The backs came from 4wheel parts because they were the only people that had them in stock at the time. I guess I learned my lesson and will continue to buy from WEW in the future. Gonna juice these up sometime soon and hopefully enjoy better ride quality.
