There is a long dangling wire under my dash in my 84', adsm08 said he has it to, and not sure what it does.

What is it?

its stock =P

just a danging wire under the dash, if you look under a first gen dash, you can see all the wiring, there is not bottom cover. I will check for images, 1 sec

Its behind the shifters:

its connected, again, adsm08 said he had the same thing, but just tucked his up in the dash.

I am just curious, because it is kinda an eye sore when you want a working/nice looking truck =P I am thinking about going out and cleaning her up today and using some blaster on the bench rails, one side is rusted.

BTW, how do you remove the bench seat?

just use zip ties to hold the wire out of the way. and its bolted to the floor, you will see the bolts just by looking/sliding the bench forward.

yup, and i believe i use a 13mm socket on my 88 60/40 seat... but i could be off.

don't wanna thread jack, but it's not really worth a whole new thread...
one of my bolts out of my drivers seat when i was taking it out came apart (well the washer did, not the bolt)... is the only spot i can get one is through some aftermarket thing? or the stealership maybe?

where is the bolt? pics please? I am extremely new to workin on rangers, haha

so youre saying the washer fell off, or broke off? just replace with a regular washer from any hardware store.

its almost impossible to miss... look on the brackets mounting to the floor. i cant show you a picture because i dont have my old ranger anymore.

its' where you would expect it to be... slide ur seat all the way back and look at the floor on the edge of the seat... you can't miss it. i'd guess there is 4 bolts holding the seat down, two on driver's side and two on passenger's

uhm.... the driver's side is pretty much rusted shut, need to blast it with some PB, or just try some WD40 and moving it a little.

yeah idk, do what you have to do... but did you find the bolts? they are directly below the edge of the seat, bolted through the carpet into the cab

are they one sided? or do I need to hold a nut under the cab or something??

your truck looks like the 86 i bought for a cab swap, when i wanted to take out the seat i just lifted up on it and ripped it out of the floor haha

and my 1st gen rangers had that too

yeah, but I like my bench, easier for passengers
