dangerranger1983 build

Well sold my last tiller I have for off so getting those projects done and out of the way. Now I have more garage space.

I will have to run a return style fuel system but was wondering if anybody knows of the return line fitting that you can fit into or splice into the gas tank filler neck and what the name of that is? Yes my gas tank does have a return line on it but I'm actually using that right now as the feed. I really dont want to pull the bed or drop the tank....wait just remembered the tank is empty but the truck being lifted doesn't help.

It's pretty easy to drop the tank. That's the best route to go imo. That way you can clean everything right before you pull it apart.

As far as I know they're just called fuel line fittings. They have that stupid clip system which always breaks. Just rob some off a truck in a junk yard if you're stet I running the lines backwards.

Or just swap them around that way the fuel will actually run through the sick filter and you can use all the fuel out of the tank.

Problem is I still have the broken in tank pump on the sending unit. I also don't like to have my vehicles go below a half tank.

I guess I just need to pull the bed back enough to get the sending unit out, I do remember now pulling it out without pulling the tank when taking the orange fitting of the end of the return sui that I could turn it into a feed for when I went duraspark/carb with the old 2.8.

I'll take a look online and see if I can find them again and price them out.

Found what I was looking for. Fits a 2 inch filler neck, so I just need to find out the diameter of a ranger filler neck.

If it comes to it I could make my own...as soon as I find out the ID of the neck.

I'll let you know as soon as I get home. I have an old B2 filler hose.

One guy on FB said yes it will. He had an 87 and said he used the samething on his before he went to a fuel cell.

SHE LIVES AND BREATHES AGAIN!!!!

The ignition module was the issue. Put some fuel in the tank and down the carb, primed the pump and carb hit the key and she fired right up.

Now the wait for the efi setup is here. Have to order/get a few other parts still but wait till it ships out.

Glad to hear that you figured it out bud! I think you'll be a lot happier with the efi. I need to gather up all my crap and put mine in too.

I know I'll be happier with it. Turn key and away I go. Hopefully better fuel mileage and reliability.

I am willing to guerantee better fuel mileage. I think you've got carb issues. I'm getting 16.75mpg with 35's freeway, in town I'm getting 12.

I'm interested to hear what you think about that EFI unit once you get it up and running. Have access to an old 68 F-100 4x4 with the 390 FE that I want to put back on the road someday. First two things on the list of upgrades are disk brakes and EFI. It's already got a 4bbl intake so something like this is just what I need.

Rowdy, hearing your MPG numbers makes me hopeful for my little V8 build. It's a lowered 2wd with an Explorer V8, and I'm going to try running the Explorer EFI. If you're getting getting almost 17mpg highway with 35" tires, I should to be able to do better with a lighter truck and 26" tires. That is assuming that I can keep from lighting up the tires every time I hit the gas.

Lol yeah it's hard not to get on it. I'm hoping ill get that or a little better when I finally make time to do the explorer efi swap. Then I'm going to finish my instrument panned. The stock 79 bronco speedometer took a dump last year.

If my excitement doesn't get the best of me I will make videos of the unboxing, insulation, first start, running and driving in as much detail as I can, all videos wool be on YouTube and I'll provide the links.
