dangerranger1983 build

I don't have that kind of money. I don't even have the spare money to buy a simple rebuild kit. Plus i have a kid on the way and have to get another vehicle so a good rebuild of my carb should do the trick.

I have been having a strong smell of a fluid that it's burning on something whether it is burning on the headers or somewhere else. I only smell it when I'm stopped and last night when my top lights were on i could see a very faint smoke coming from under the hood but couldn't tell what color it was. I havent hooked my breather to the intake so i will do that along with checking the hearers to see if anything if burning on them out the bolts for them have backed out causing and exhaust leak. I can see that the exhaust coming out the muffler is going pout the back of the truck when i first start her and let her warm up i watch the white smoke go out the rear.

If you haven't got a pcv hooked up then that's probably what it is. I hooked mine up cuz I couldn't stand the smell any more.

I have a pcv hooked up but the rubber gromite has a loose fit in the valve cover and doesn't always stay in. I knew when my breather hose wasn't hooked up or came off my old 2.8 air filter housing, you could smell the oil smoke coming out the breather.

the "Fast" Fuel injection system that the "PowerBlock" used made over 400hp on the engine that they was working on, from what I seen, it's all plug and play, just install it and let it idle for a while to learn the engine it's on.

Everything is easy on that show. :icon_rofl:

Most aftermarket EFI systems I have seen are pretty expensive ($1k+), I would patch together a stock EFI system a long time before I would get one.

This has been popping out more recently and i think giving the smell in the cab I'm smelling so i need to find a rubber dieting that fits right.

I didn't find any oil on the headers but did find a couple bolts that were starting to back out of them so i tightened them and tightened up the bolts that hook the exhaust pipe to headers too.

Yep I agree that's probably your problem. Did you use the advanced adapter headers? The front bolt on my passenger side header keeps backing out.

Nope they are the explorer headers, restrictive, but want to get the cast manifolds since they aren't as bad. But these are stainless so they arent rusting on me but i need to get some header tape wrap put on them since my spark plug wires seem to be touching them and want to burn through them. But they came with the engine and i did this swap as cheap as i could but still wanted an HO engine.

I completely understand. I started off going all out on mine then quickly discovered how much I had just spent and went the cheap rout after that lol

I started out by going as cheap as possible when i first started doing stuff to the truck over two years ago.

Same as it has been but likes to drive highway speeds all day but in town, had mileage is terrible. What also doesn't help is the holiday traffic.

And somewhere between my sisters house, where I posted that comment, and my house....................the fuel guage quit working during the drive. Second complete fill up since the 302 swap. DOnt know if the plug came off the tank to the sender or if the sender float went bad or what it was. But I do know before it quit working I was still at a full tank (after 30 miles of driving :shok: ) so I should be fine for the week.

If its not one thing, it's ten others...I just cant get ahead.

You have any ideas why you get shitty mileage in town or you think its just the nature of the beast?

all vehicles get better fuel mileage on the open road, and the highway, then they do in town, UNLESS you got a hybrid, then it's the opposite.
