She might be afraid that once you get it all fixed up, all the other girls will want to ride in it and you'll dump her....

Well got the truck washed yesturday and got the time to filally finish up the in bed winch thing. Total cost for all of this was around $20 due to had the winch laying around for many years and the rest was scrap steel laying around too. Just need to get some paint thrown on her and it should be all good from there.

i think we need a demo video of how it works....

I can get a picture of what it is going to do. There is 25 foot of 800lbs. test cable on it and a hook that has a latch on it so as not to slip off. As you can see in the picture, I have the cable running down to a pulley. This is to not only keep the cable in the bed area but helps with when winching something into the bed it helps keep it parallel with it and also kept me from having to make a brace to hook to the bed to keep it from torquing. All the force went from being from the top of the pulley to the tail gate to down and the bottom of the pulley just buy simple changing its dirrection. This also is a safety thing too as since the cable is in the bed and if it were for some reason to snap, it would smack the inside of the bed and not fling everywhere.

I tested it on a 300lbs table saw we have (built in the 60's so its all steel and yes its craftman and has NO safety devices on it so if you cut a finger off, you deserved it then) with no wheels and pulled it like it was nothing.

I think it will be just another month and the truck will have ben SASed for a year :headbang:

Okay hope this helps those that are confused........

What are you hoisting into the bed? A cheapie 2000lb winch from harbor freight woulda done the same thing will less cranking :icon_twisted:

Simple, dead deer. I'm not going to lift them up, my back doesn't need anymore strain put on it either. A far as keeping it cheap, this setup cost me about $20. Nothing says I can't rig a motor into it all later on either.

Well compress the front suspension fully a few times and this is what you get.....

The coil wanting to slip back.

So one BFH moment later (didnt take much hitting really)....

Going to have to make another J clamp or just get a hose clamp to hold it for now. This is why it is important to inspect your vehicle, and its more important to do it when you have done such mods to your vehicle too.

You should just modify the coil buckets like I did mine. That way you don't have to worry about it popping out.

I just dont have the time to do it or another vehicle to drive while i do mod this one (hince why im looking at that other ranger).
