Dana 35 auto to manual locking hub conversion question

Fits Jeep CJ7 81-86, CJ8 81-86

None of those are a 94 Ford Ranger. It is a completely different style of lockout than what our TTB front ends take.

OK thanks. I figure it was something like the end of the axle is longer thus having to use the "top hat" design.

mile marker brand is cheapest that ive found for the rangers, i think they are about $200 for a set through autozone. im on my 2nd set, first set i broke when backing into a parking spot in the winter, front tires were on dry pavement & rears were on snow as i tried to push back a snowbank with the back bumper in 4wd low range, hubs couldnt take the strain. lol basically the whole load was on the front end. cracked the locking ring inside the hub in 3 places! whoops! other than that theve stood up pretty good.

On the net I've found the heavy duty (not standard) Warn going for about that price ($200). But before I go that route, I'll clean and inspect the originals. I don't do much off road, just basically if I really need it for snow. But eventually I'll do the manual route since that seems to be the best way to go. :icon_thumby:

I Blew Out My Auto hubs with 31"s with only 3" Body lift ,In Mud , They Literally Blew apart , I went Ahead And Bought The Warn Premium kit with the Mile Marker Install Kit As It was Cheaper And Same Thing And Was Under $250 With new Timken Wheel bearings Back in 05 .

You can blowout the auto hubs with 195/75/14's on dry pavement just reaching for the transfercase lever.

Well I never Tried to put it in 4x4 while moving haha , I Always stopped Put in N then pushed the 4x4 switch , Now I ride with free hubs and lock them when needed .

It seems that James Oaks Enterprise has a good price on the Warn Premiums.
Just $193

Get the warn hubs, they're worth the money, and make sure you get the conversion kit or they're going to break.

There are however heavier "Jeep hubs".

Use the search function, I know its been covered a few times.

It's been covered.

Spend the money now and forget about it. Warn "jeep" hubs and their kit... barely took me any time to install.

Had to pick up a locknut socket though...
