dana 30 swap

It is a built rear end meaning stronger then factory and stronger then my 7.5 I have.

The Dana 35 ring gear is 6 tenths of an inch bigger in diameter than the 7.5. Not much strength difference there. The Dana 35 has 27-spline shafts, and the 7.5 has 28-spline shafts. There is a reasonable strength gain from that extra spline. So the 7.5 should be stronger than your 35, unless you have the "Super 35" kit installed...

The cost of fixing or getting a D35 TTB will exceed the money and time that I have that it will take to put my D30 under my truck.

A 35 swap should be much faster than a 30 swap.

Basiclly I'm going for the easiest, quickest, and cheapest set up that will last me mabey another 6-10 years if I'm that lucky.

That would be a 35.

I think theres confusion... I own a Dana 35 rear end with all the goodies in it. It is a built rear end meaning stronger then factory and stronger then my 7.5 I have.

It is NOT stronger than your 7.5". The housing on a D35 Jeep rear is weaker, the gears are thinner, and the shafts are smaller. I don't care what has been done to it (there's a reason the Jeep guys are barely able to even give those things away (usually as scrap).

Edit,
Evan beat me to it.
I'd be tempted to say the 7.5" overall is still better than even a D35 with the Super Kit in it, just because of the housing weakness. They like to bend & crack real easy.

Like i said i have no plans to off road, etc...

The choice has been made. I'm going to go with a leaf spring set-up. My bro-in-law agrees with me on that. Plus he said he will help me out with it.

As for the Jeep guys, they put larger tires on, and rock crawl, go mudding, etc...not what I'm going to do. I'm going to be running stock rubber. Where I live not a close enough place for me to do any of that. I'm building the truck within my needs of what I'm going to be doing with it. If I need a heavy duty vehicle I'll call up my bro-in-law and ask to use his F-250.

Sorry if I'm sounding mean or rude. But like I said I will own another ranger in the future and put all the goodies on it. This is my only vehicle so I cant do everything to it. It may become my goodie vehicle one day.

Thx for all the information.

Sorry if I'm sounding mean or rude.

You're not sounding like that at all. We're just giving you some ideas, information, and opinions. In the end though it's your truck and your call, and we're here to help regardless of the route you take.

Thanks for understanding. Is all of this knowledge that your giving me in a sticky? If not it needs to be put in there or the tech. library.

if its not going to be wheeled then the axles your putting it will be plenty strong my buddy has a cherokee with stock axles and he hasn't broke anything wheeling.

With 2.8 power, he's going to be lucky to turn the Jeep axles, especially with oversize tires. The D30 can be built up fairly stoutly, and very cheaply, IF parts are selected with some thought. The D35, on the other hand, well, that thing is a hit&miss axle. The "C" clip axles seem to be the worst of the bunch, meaning, the most common. The NON "C" clip, which was PRE 90 mostly, seems to be a stouter axle, even though the guts are the same. Why? I don't know. I DO know that the NON "C" axles will handle a 33.10.5.15 Bogger with a functional L/S, 5 speed and 4.0 power ALOT better than the "C" clipper.

Not going to use over sized tires, at the most BF Goodrich All Terrians in the future of the same size. And the jeep axles have 4.56 gears in them. I'm not going to be crawling, mudding, etc... Trust me, they WILL work for what I'm going to be using them for....DD, good looks, and getting through snow.

They will work quite well for that usage, but you "may" find the 4.56s' to be a little on the low side. I run 31s' on 4.10s' with a wornout 2.8 and TK5 and she runs just about perfect. Personal opinion on the 4.56s', they would be great for the trails.

These axles came from a guy who went on the trails and the Badlands in Attica, IN. They dont have much use on them plus one day this will be my trail truck. But like you said I may find it to low but its only for in town driving. Wish I had the 5-speed tranny but I'm stuck with my 4-speed for now.
