daily doubler build

wow, you put a LOT of work into that. being able to crawl without touching the gas makes it all worth it though. if you get that d20 in there your crawl ratio will be .3 higher than mine lol.

I now have 6k miles on my doubler and no problems so far. I took it out for inspection this past weekend and the ATF was still red as can be, no signs of excessive wear, etc. I think it's gonna last a good while *crosses fingers*. I'm in the process now of the 63" chevy spring swap as well as designing/building a traction bar. the added torque was too much for my stock springs and blocks and I now have HUGE amounts of axle wrap. I think I permanently damaged the springs from it. hopefully the chevy springs and traction bar will eliminate that problem.

they're from '88-98 chevy 1500 pickups. its a fairly common swap, and supposed to net ~3" of lift which will allow me to get rid of my lift blocks. they have the same length from the center pin to the rear eye (shackle side) as the ranger springs but the hole is centerred in the chevy spring rather than being further forward like the ranger spring, thus the spring is 6" longer than the rangers making it necessary to move the front spring mount. the longer spring will also aid in increasing articulation. overall you gain 3" and get better flex, pretty good deal

good deal. ill have to check into that. right now i need softer front springs.im lookin into XJ srpings.

there's an article on it in the tech library, you should check it out.

I also have a stiff front spring problem. I plan to solve mine with a pair of EB springs, sitting atop the HP D44 I'll be building this winter :secret:

Just a thought, Build the traction bar off the rear pig next to the drive shaft just slightly lower than the shaft. You get the benefit of the traction bar + it protects the shaft from big logs, burms, and boulders. Make sure it's on a swivel at the top. RB

that's almost my plan, except I don't wanna try and weld to the center section itself. I'm gonna build it on the tube, right next to it. the bar itself will be a single "ladder" type design out of 1.5" .250 wall DOM. the joint at the frame end will be a poly joint welded to 1" solid bar that will slip and twist freely inside the ladder portion. this will eliminate nearly all bind and axle wrap :icon_thumby:

When i get around to building mine I'm going to mount it on the diff where the harmonic balance thing used to be. It will also have a yoke protector built in. RB

STICK FOR LIFE! auto trannys just contribute to the wussification of america (I think I read that somewhere lol).

I know autos have their advantages, but manual trannys are more fun
