Man, no updates since the Moab trip. I'm slacking, haha.
I've been embracing some more recreational based adventure rather than mechanical based stuff. Doing a lot of hiking and camping. We stayed at a local state park this past weekend.
I also bought a couple kayaks. We floated some flood waters and ended up getting stuck when we tried to leave. Yes, there's 3 boats on the rig, no doors, and it's sunk to the axles. No worries though, I was able to winch off my buddies truck and it's our property. No harm, no foul.
I just wrapped up a rack system to carry the kayaks as well.
Slightly different from the initial design, but sometimes you have to be flexible and change things up on the fly. I'm happy with how it turned out. I can open my tailgate for full bed access. Getting the boats off of my bed will let me fill it up with camping gear for some serious camping and floating trips.
As far as wheeling is concerned, I ordered an OX for the rear. The welded diff is chewing up these expensive tires too quick. I'm hoping to have that installed in the next couple weeks (if it comes in), then hitting the Badlands the weekend of the 28th.
I close on a house this coming Friday as well. It has a finished 2 stall garage and a sizable outbuilding. I'm looking forward to building my own shop and getting serious with tube based projects. It'll be interesting to see what I'm building in the next few years.
