daily doubler build

Thanks for the heads up. I appreciate it. Looks like I'll be going with the 760X's w/ full round snap rings. If i ever break them, I'll just get a set of Long's. ($175/piece is pricey as hell though) :icon_thumby:

I recommend tacking the caps just to be safe. The full circle snap ring wont com off like a c clip, but it will still let the cap turn and egg the shaft.

Planned on it for my spares anyways. I won't tack them on my chromo's due to it probably voiding the warranty.

Depending on when Spring Break is next year, we are going out there again to hopefully be there for EJS (at least a day or two of it)

We went out there the Friday before Big Saturday of EJS. It was BUSY. I'm glad we got to experience it, but if I go out there again I will make it a point to avoid EJS. It's awesome if you're looking for the hussle, bussle, and commercialized aspect of off road, but I'd rather enjoy Moab in seclusion.

I'll second this, the Fun Treks' books are absolutely worth the price.

Absolutely. I got the spiral bound version and it was pretty cheap.

We did find that they tended to rate the trails a little harder than what they actually seemed to be. But maybe I'm just more hard core than I thought :icon_twisted::thefinger:

We thought the same thing. I just considered the source. The guy who wrote it was in a rather mild built wrangler and composed the book with all wheelers in mind. I guess we're the select few with higher expectations. :D

Oh, and Bray is more Hard core than me. Half doors, Snow Storm, in the mountains. **** that noise, I like my heat!

Experiencing the country via roadtrip in an open vehicle is awesome. I love road tripping with the half doors. The preparation required to make it comfortable just adds that much more adventure to the trip, haha.

Lucky SOB.

Bray....when my kids graduate and move out...me and you road trip of a lifetime.

I make my own luck. :thefinger:

And you know it man. Get 'em raised quick; I'm ready anytime!

I'd shy away from tacking the caps. My joints dry up enough as it is. If you want a little more security, I would recommend using loctite as your lubricant when you press the caps into the shafts.

I might be able to make it out for a week trip before then...just gotta get a few more years of marriage under the belt so she gets tired of me lol.

Really though, someday I'm doing it.

Man, no updates since the Moab trip. I'm slacking, haha.

I've been embracing some more recreational based adventure rather than mechanical based stuff. Doing a lot of hiking and camping. We stayed at a local state park this past weekend.

I also bought a couple kayaks. We floated some flood waters and ended up getting stuck when we tried to leave. Yes, there's 3 boats on the rig, no doors, and it's sunk to the axles. No worries though, I was able to winch off my buddies truck and it's our property. No harm, no foul.

I just wrapped up a rack system to carry the kayaks as well.

Slightly different from the initial design, but sometimes you have to be flexible and change things up on the fly. I'm happy with how it turned out. I can open my tailgate for full bed access. Getting the boats off of my bed will let me fill it up with camping gear for some serious camping and floating trips.

As far as wheeling is concerned, I ordered an OX for the rear. The welded diff is chewing up these expensive tires too quick. I'm hoping to have that installed in the next couple weeks (if it comes in), then hitting the Badlands the weekend of the 28th.

I close on a house this coming Friday as well. It has a finished 2 stall garage and a sizable outbuilding. I'm looking forward to building my own shop and getting serious with tube based projects. It'll be interesting to see what I'm building in the next few years.

like the rack system... simple looking, functional, yet removable.. nice job.

All exciting. Love the fabricating/engineering man

i had a hand built setup i used for ladders and canoes years ago that was stolen that is similar to my cargo master in this pic. it dropped into the pockets and was all clip together and sectioned. i prefer this for max visibility and access/cargo capacity. might be an option to consider.

i have several designs for my current flat bed setup for interchangeable work/play capacities.

this setup you have come up with is awesome and furthers this lil monster to the top of my favorite rig list. simple-form-function and k.i.s.s. principles make this thing a true utility vehicle.

never fail to impress bud:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

Thanks Bobby. I considered an “over the roof” rack as well, but I wanted to haul all three of my boats. See the previous pic where I’m stuck in the field. I had the canoe up top with both kayaks flipped upside down and side-by-side on my bed.

That worked well, but it didn’t allow me to access my bed as the boats were resting on my tailgate. The rack I built is low profile enough to get all three boats on the truck (I’m pretty sure, I haven’t officially tried it yet), while still allowing for full bed access.

I can still use the rack to haul 10-12’ material as well. The integrated hook attachment points will make it nice. I’ll just have my steel place chop the full sticks in half for transport, then I can load it up on the rack, tie a flag on it, and go down the road without any worries.

Pretty much what Bobby already said. Every time you update this I am impressed. As always badass rig.

Thanks guys. I test fitted all of the boats tonight. Everything fits as designed.

Now I just need to plan another trip!

I love you truck Bray!
I'm curious to see how well you like the OX.

Random question - Is that the poo poo tribe sticker on your door above the Warn one?

I'm planning on building a rack to hold my 14' aluminum over the cab of mine, it'll just fit nicely over the quad in the box.
