daily doubler build

Birdy told me you may be coming east to play at the end of the month. That true?

It's on the calendar. :D

Hopefully I don't get beat up for rocking the Petersen's stickers at a CRAWL event. haha

Glad you had fun Bray! Looks like you got to sample a pretty wide variety of terrain out there.

Still happy with the new tires? How'd they stack up against the other tires out there (MTR's and the Nitto's)?

Thanks man. We definitely saw some variety.

I'm pleased with my tires. I aired down quite a bit. They wrapped around most everything and pulled us on up. The only thing we DIDN'T see was wet/slick rock. The tires did well in the dry stuff. Aired down to 4psi in the sand and the traction was surprising. Good stuff.

edit - we were on wet rocks (creek bed) but it wasn't really slick. I'm talking about moss/mud covered slickrock.

I did take a couple chunks out of my sidewall on the first trail day. We were on lava rock type stuff - pretty harsh on tires. I never punched a hole all the way through though.

How do they stack up against the other tires? Durham stands behind MTRK's, and I respect that dude on a whole 'nother level, so I'd say they're damn good tires.

The nitto's seemed to do well but were heavy and kinda stiff. That may be good for some, or not so good. If I were to get the Nitto's, I'd go with the trail grapplers over the mud grapplers. Better suited for most conditions, and I just like the look better. haha

Thanks for that! I miss my Mud Grapplers, but damn those things were loud! Its good to hear that the other variety was doing well too.

For sure. The stiffer tire would've been welcomed on the harsh rock we wheeled on the first trail day. I'd have to run them for a while to get a feel for their overall performance, but from what I saw, then seemed to do well.

I spent this weekend prepping the truck for the upcoming Kentucky trip. I cosmolined my spare shafts and wrapped them with plastic mesh to keep them from getting scarred up in my toolbox.

I also found a cooler that fits PERFECTLY in my bed, so I fabbed up some bed anchors and welded those in as well. I wish I would've done this before the Adventure. I just ran out of time.

I should be ready to rock for the KY trip. I changed the oil (for the 3rd time in a month), greased the driveshafts and steering components, and topped off all of the fluids. A good wash/wax mid week and I'll be ready to roll.

sounds good:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

will be looking for ya Friday....can't wait:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

You guys already buy your camp spots?

Rick and Brandi are staying at a hotel on the interstate. My better (looking) counterpart is still undecided. She has been fighting a problem with her foot for a few weeks now. Not sure if she can make it or not.

Thanks for bringing up the camping arrangements. I was going to ask John what the deal was so it's good to get it out in the open.

Do I need to call ahead and reserve a spot? I was hoping I could just show up. What are their polocies on the brewskis?

Don't get caught with them outside of camp I think... That's what it is everywhere else around here. Greg and John both know my stance on it.

Camp is included in the 3 day pass, but I have a feeling it's going to get full quick. First 1000 to pay get a t-shirt, but I haven't found out of you can register early. I'm calling at 3 (eastern) to find out.

Still not sure where we/I am staying. If she comes, I'll be in the cheapest lodging with a shitter and a shower and lacks bed bugs, if not, I'll be kicking it in my tent at the park.

3 day pass? I was hoping to only get a 1 day pass (Saturday) and camp for two nights (Fri and Sat). I'll probably give them a call just to make sure I'm good to go.

The park I usually go to states no alcohol ANYWHERE (camp or park), but they never do cooler checks at camp. They're pretty thorough at the park gate, which is good. I'm not cool with people drinking and driving.

If it's not allowed anywhere, I'm cool with that as well. Just wanted to make sure I didn't waste time/money if they're strict on that stuff.

I will be arriving early to get us some spots together...but the owner told me it had to be in the back 40....cause Holley ( main sponsor ) doesn't want the upper area "held up"...

so we will be all together...

as for drinks...allowed in camp if done discreetly...none out and about....

dunno bout' any cooler checks...will let ya know when I get there Thursday...

Bray are you you going through Evansville on the way or close to it? I could meet you for the last 2 hours of the trip.

Yep, looks like I'll come straight through it. Owensboro as well. I asked Jon if he wanted to ride along this weekend and he said he'll have to ask the wifey. Still waiting on the verdict on that one. Either way, your plan should work.

I can't give you an exact time that I'll roll through, but I could give you an approx time once I get on the road and start knocking down some miles.

I doubt they will have a cooler check.

It's looking like its going to be a scorcher again. 100, 93, 92, 90 this weekend.
