daily doubler build

awesome what kinda stuff are you going to make with the bender???

All of the above :D

Bumpers will probably be first. I'd like to cage it sometime. Whether that happens this summer or no I don't know. I might build some crossmembers, I have a chopped/modded stock trans crossmember now that could stand to be replaced.

I'm sure I'll think of more once I start using it.

Awesome cant wait to see What you make

Here's what you get when you DD your rig:

Bumpers measured to the bottom of my hitch and bottom of my front valence were 1" under. He measured to the steel part of my bumpers and said I was 2" too high front and rear.

I looked up the laws when I got home, its complicated. Long story short, if you mod your bumpers to comply, the cop will just measure to the lowest point of the forwardmost and rearmost points of your frame, so its not bumper height at all - its frame.

Other than that, no mudflaps, no fender flares, bumpers didn't cover track width, blah blah. Threw the book at me.

So some changes need to be made, he wouldn't let me drive away, and said if he sees me again he'll have me towed.

So I picked up some of these:

It should wuss up my truck quite a bit and hopefully be less attractive to the PoPo. I'm gonna remove my OL leaf which will drop my rearend a little bit, then build a new rear bumper (I know what I said above, but maybe it'll deter some of the 'slower' cops).

Still dunno what I'm gonna do to get the front down - if anything. FTP.

Got some other work done too, I'm ready to air it out now (yeah right :thefinger:)

did you copy me and get limit straps.

you're such a doucher.

lol yeah. They've been sittin in my shop for almost a year now. Figured I'd finally put em on there.

What was the troopers name? I have been having problems with one in the explorer and that isn't that tall. And yes they are not supposed to measure the bumpers it is frame height. I'll get the offical measurements later as I am at work right now.

The guy has a doctors signature of course. Illegible. Badge number is 4676.

Weekend wheeling update:

I was in double low first gear hoggin on a ledge, I could tell my driver front was biting pretty hard but it just wasn't enough to pull me up. Tossed it in double low 2nd and went at it again. Same situation, biting hard then click click click click click click.

Either my front locker or my lockout. Unlock the hub and the click stops. Pull the lockout off and find this:

That made me happy. I'd be super pissed if I toasted my locker.

Went to the shop, they didn't have any new ones in stock so they let me pull a used one from their axle graveyard out back. Threw the used one on and wheeled the rest of the weekend with no problems.

I did put a nice dent in my gas tank which pisses me off a bit. Add a gas tank skid to the 'to do' list.

Here's a nice 'exploded' view of the lockout. Broke every cog in the damn thing.

Nice breakage.... I'm looking for some new hubs as spares, tryin to decide what I wanna get. Currently rockin the Superwinch hubs with no issues, but thinkin 9/10th turns Warn's might be the ticket? Who knows.....anything but milemarker's.

The exploded view is of the 9/10th turn Warn :D.

I wish I would've taken pics of the stock that I tossed on. It looked pretty beefy; had bigger teeth on the cogs, but fewer of them. I was beatin on it just as hard if not harder with the stock one on there with no issues, today anyways.

I've thought about getting drive slugs and just swapping them over in camp when I go wheelin, but that's just one more thing I'd have to do when I perform the "street truck to trail rig transformation" in the campgrounds.

Swappin doors, airing down, and cranking up the valving in the shocks is already too much when your anxious to wheel.

LMAO, 'exploded view'.....not quite the same one you'll find in their parts books. Maybe I will stick with the Superwinch hubs. If I didnt do so much back and forth wheelin/street driving I'd do for the drive slugs too.

warn crapiums. They are very well known for blowing up. Slug tme.

Yeah, I can't believe I paid so much money for them.

I've still got a couple stock spares in the shop. I'll run them till I break em all, then look at other options. I'd really like to run slugs, they just don't work well for double duty.

You should use that tube bender to build one of these.......

That may have worked, if my tank was still in the stock location :thefinger:
