In the tech section, I read that if you use a D35 from an explorer in the BII you will have to shorten your front drive shaft. My question is can I not use the explorer drive shaft to avoid this issue? I have an entire donor explorer sittin in my driveway. Thanks guys, this probably sounds like a dumb question but it makes sense to me.

If you use the Explorer t-case, you can use the shaft as well. That's what I did. Or if you are running 6" of lift, I think you can get away without shortening the shaft.

If the t-case in the Bronco is electric and the t-case in the Ex happens to be manual, you'll want to switch them. The shift motors tend to go out on the electric ones.

The problem is that the pinion shaft is longer on the 35 so there is an inch or so less room for a driveshaft. It's about $100 to get it cut, and it doesn't need balancing. Measure before you take it down to get cut.

I agree with Will, even with a 6" lift it should be cut.
